I can't believe that Bachmann survived. I was certain that she was dead meat. Sad
Hahahahah.  I think a lot of people were thinking the same thing two years ago when she beat Wetterling.

I thought she would win in 2006, but that SUSA poll that had her up 1 & Obama up 3 convinced me that she was finished. I guess that poll was terrible in more ways than one. Wink

I'm kind of happy that McClintock won. I felt bad for him after he lost the Lt. Governor's race to Garamendi in 2006. I don't know why though. Tongue

Yeah I felt bad for him too.  He really is a great fit for the district and has lost so many frickin' times otherwise.  Really, considering the district's democratic interests, I cannot imagine a better representative policy-wise.

But Charlie Brown seems like a better person, even if I feel sorry for the other guy.

AK-AL and AK-SEN should be called.  The only thing left is bush.

^^^^^
Stevens has a 3300-vote lead with 3 bush precincts left and probably some absentees.  It's over.

Sad how Alaska shows that it doesn't matter how crappy and corrupt you are, if you bring home more pork for your state then your crappy state deserves, they'll keep re-electing you.

They don't technically elect him because of the pork, they elect him because he is popular and he is popular because he's been there ever since the state became a state in the 60's and  he's popular because he does bring home the pork.  But usually you don't think about the bacon when you pull the lever.

So, is it safe to assume that McConnell and Reid will wait however many months an appeal takes, and assuming the appeal is unsuccessful (pretty likely), THEN kick him out, putting the ball in Palin's court?

Gosh.  In most states, someone in Steven's position would lose to someone in Begich's position, pre-conviction.

This makes me not want to go back to Alaska again.  Props to Stevens though on his 12th hour, 2-minute ad.

I can't believe that Stevens & Young both won. The polls lied to me! Angry

Anyway, AK is one of those states like LA & NJ where being corrupt gets you more votes, not fewer. Wink

Also, Coleman's leading by 676 votes now. As far as I can tell, only Cass & St. Louis counties have anything left to report.

Cass is 97% in, with Coleman leading 7,500-5,800-2,400. St. Louis is 99% in, with Franken leading 64,000-38,000-14,000. Assuming that the remaining precincts vote the county average & are average in size for the county (Tongue), Franken picks up 229 votes.

Obviously those aren't scientifically valid assumptions, though they do illustrate that Coleman is probably ahead. Of course, there's absentees & then the recount, so it doesn't mean that much.

I'm willing to call ID-01 for Walt Minnick. He's up by 3,600 votes with 3 precincts left in the state.

Ancedotal stories are the best kind:

I talked to my mother on the phone today.  She's registered in NJ-07 and voted against Ferguson in 2006.

"I'm glad that Stender didn't get in.  I was sick of hearing her voice all the damn time."

The thing that put my mother over the edge were apparently the repeated robocalls from her and Bill Clinton on her unlisted home phone number.

The Virginia SBOE currently has Tom Perriello leading Virgil Goode by 31 votes. This one is going to be a while.

I meant, as in, why haven't the networks called it even though it's completely in and Stivers has a wide margin?
