Here are the state legislative control changes that seem to be apparent by now (this is very partial, as a lot of the info is still not there).

DE House - Dem gain from Rep
NY Senate - Dem gain from Rep
OH House - Dem gain from Rep
TN House Rep gain from Tie

Seems no change in control in PA. The only chamber in Rep control between DC and the border is now PA Senate.

I can't seem to find a good source for all state legislature elections.  Any suggestions?

http://www.ncsl.org/statevote/statevote2008.htm

Nevada Senate flips from Rep to Dem.
Wisconsin Assembly flips from Rep to Dem.
Oklahoma Senate flips from Dem to Rep.
Montana Senate flips from Dem to Rep, House is still up for grabs.
Alaska Senate flips from Rep to a 10-10 tie.

There was concern that Democrats would lose the NC Senate, but that didn't happen.

The Green Party has apparently won a seat in Arkansas.

No, Richard Carroll was the only person on the ballot in his district, after the only Democrat who filed was struck from the ballot due to a criminal conviction.

The site puts the new composition of the AR House at 69D, 29R, and 2 other.  What's the other other?

No change here in PA. It looks like the Dems got a net pickup of two in the House and the GOP has a net pickup of one in the Senate.

Probably one hasn't been called yet. According to the Arkansas SOS site, there are a few races where the margin is 1 percent or less.

Does anyone know how the Arizona Corporation Commission elections work?  It has 5 members who were all Republicans going into yesterday's election(s).

Here are the results of that/those election(s): http://www.azsos.gov/results/2008/general/GEN-2060.htm

So, the latest summary seems to be:

Alaska Senate Rep to Tie
Delaware House Rep to Dem
Montana House Rep (w/other) to Tie
Montana Senate Dem to Rep
Nevada Senate Rep to Dem
New York Senate Rep to Dem
Ohio House Rep to Dem
Oklahoma Senate Tie to Rep
Tennessee House Dem to Rep
Wisconsin House Rep to Dem

Overall, Dems gain less then a 100 seats nationwide off the Reps

I do believe Jore was term-limited (he had been in the legislature as a Republican before returning as the Constitution Party's standard-bearer).

No, Richard Carroll was the only person on the ballot in his district, after the only Democrat who filed was struck from the ballot due to a criminal conviction.
It's a little more complicated.  Dwayne Dobbins was the representative for the district, which is 65% Black.  As part of plea bargain where it was alleged he had fondled a teenage girl, he agreed to resign his seat in exchange for a reduction of the charges from a felony to a misdemeanor.  His wife, Sharon Dobbins, was elected in the special election (in 2005) to replace him, and was re-elected in 2006.  It was expected that she would seek re-election in 2008, but instead Dwayne Dobbins filed just before the deadline, making him unpopposed in the Democrat primary, and possibly for the general election.

After the primary, the Arkansas Democratic Party adopted a rule making a candidate who had accepted a plea agreement to reduce a felony charge to a misdemeanor conviction, would be ineligible for the party nomination, refused to certify Dobbins's nomination and returned his filing fee (he cashed the check).

Richard Carroll, who said that he had planned to run as a write-in candidate (presumably when it appeared Dobbins's election would be uncontested), instead secured the Green Party nomination.

Dobbins later sued the Arkansas Democratic Party and the State of Arkansas, but the Arkansas Supreme Court ruled that he had filed too late (he waited until October).

The Democrats picked up a net of 3 seats in the Texas House (possibly 4, pending a recount of a race with a margin of 25 votes at the moment) and 1 seat in the Senate (with the possibility of 2 pending a run-off). This puts the House at 76-74 R (possibly split 75-75) and almost certainly means that Speaker Craddick (R) is screwed, probably to be replaced by a Republican (maybe with some Democratic cross-over support) or by a Democrat (with some moderate Republican cross-over support). But Craddick is almost surely toppled. Smiley

The MT House appears to be 50-50.  Does anyone know what that means for control of the chamber?

There's a new coalition of 10 Dems and 3 Reps, but the Senate President will be a Democrat now:

How many remaining state legislatures have never been held by one of the major parties?

Different Stevens.  You're thinking of Ben Stevens (R-Anchorage).

This is Gary Stevens (R-Kodiak).  Apparently not related Ben and Ted, so far as I can tell.

Lots of folks named Stevens in AK it would seem.
