According to current returns, by 0.52% to 0.40%.  Who'd have thought?

(Barr was on the ballot in 49 states, Nader in 46 and as a write-in in those other 3.)

So Barr really was crap.

The Libertarians' attempt to go mainstream has failed miserably.

Wonder why?

Seeing since so many republicans were not happy with McCain.

Barr probably cost McCain North Carolina and Indiana.  That makes things pretty even.

I thought Obama was leading in NE-2. Does someone have a link?

Debs finished 3rd or 4th in 4 straight elections. Then again, so did Nader (he finished 4th in 1996)

Hilarious. The Libertarian Party is always worth a good laugh. However, the worth while third party story of the night is that of Ted Weill, the Reform Party candidate who pulled 470 votes nationwide.

How did Baldwin and the crazy black lady do?

Also, do we have any clue how many write-ins Paul got?

Nationwide Baldwin won about 173,000 votes.  His best states were Utah and Idaho, where he got 1.26% and 0.72%.  One county in Utah gave him 5.6%  He did much better in the west than in the east and improved on Michael Peroutka's vote share.

I would assume that McKinney performed similarly to Ralph Nader where both were on the ballot.

He was only on the ballot in his home state of Mississippi.

Barr wasn't even on the ballot in Louisiana. That should be colored green.

Missed that, though it's moot because the other states where Barr beat Nader, the latter was either write-in, petition, or nomination.

Doesn't Oklahoma allow third parties?

Considering the Democrats keep running DLC types like the Borens, don't Oklahomans have the right to expect better?

They do, in theory, but their signature requirements are draconian -- something like 10% of the state's population.
