I guess I'll take your word for it, but he's said a lot of stupid things these past few months.

Edit:  I hope people don't mind that I suck at using the "quote" function.  Maybe I'M the stupid one.

Apparently, there are now rumors that a lot of this stuff is coming from former Romney staffers who went to work for McCain after the primaries, and who now want to bring down Palin in order to help Romney in 2012:

This is a scary woman.  It's one thing to be power-hungry.  She's power-hungry and STUPID.
I don't see how that makes her any different from George W Bush. Except perhaps she's a tad hungrier.

I hope the gop is stupid enough to run this woman in 2012 for President Obama to win 530 EVs and put the final nail in the coffin.

Palin 2012 Iam on the wagon.

Biden is a smart guy who talks so much that he occasionally says some stupid things. Sarah Palin was given the benefit of the doubt many times to prove there was a "there" there, and failed.

People can keep trying to flog the Roosevelt-tv thing but it helps if your goofs are actually balanced out by ten times as many comments indicating you do know what you're talking about.

Did anyone ever make a Bill & Monica pornography?  I mean, you could do Bill & Flowers, Bill & Hillary, Bill & Monica, and possibly one more before you even have to dip into fiction!

Obama's the only one of the 4 candidates for pres and veep that I would consider highly intelligent. Palin was unprepared and of medium intelligence.  Biden and McCain were experienced candidates neither of whom are rocket scientists.  Obama's a brilliant guy who has relatively little experience on the national scene.

these stories are fun, though, so even if they are overblown, it's all in good fun.

anybody hear Joe Scarborough this morning let the f-bomb fly?  he had no clue he had done it, but the rest of the crew knew.

more and more, I am realizing mika's a dope.

It's not in "good fun", it's and active an ongoing sex based smear campaign.

That network is so horrible it's unwatchable. Chris Matthews openly admitted he's going to do everything he can to only report positively on Obama.

I don't think this is sexist alone.  They're playing into people's worst perceptions of Palin -- unqualified, out of her league, dumb, poorly-spoken, "folksy bimbo," etc.  I don't think she's dumb, or a bimbo.  And I suppose some of the stereotyping is sex-related.  But it's not as if they're going "she's a woman, so she's an idiot."  Do you remember many informed people calling Clinton stupid?  A few, as there always are, but not many.

Of course, her stereotypes were a lot more on the sexist side.

It really only takes a few to say these things when the "few" are the talking heads at the big three networks.

if there's any stereotyping going on, it's mostly, small town/cosmopolitan or let's make fun of alaskans... mostly though its filling in the gaps of the already entrenched perception of Palin as in over her head.

similar to Bushisms, Quaylisms, and frankly similar (but to a different perception) to some of the things that the media made fun of Kerry and Gore and Dean over.

Since most of this is coming from Republicans, I think it's designed to keep Palin from seriously competing for the nomination in 2012, rather than some sort of left/right smear or even a sexist smear.

It's not just the Roosevelt-TV thing.  In fact, I think he's made more goofs than Quayle and Palin combined.  Goofs are fine, everyone makes them, but it bothers me that Palin gets hammered on things that she may or may not have said while Biden stumbles into the Vice-Presidency clean as as whistle.

There's this unexplained myth that Biden is some kind of foreign policy master, when history has shown otherwise.  I think it's a joke, really.  Just like Bush-41 and Bush-43 (post-2004) we will have another "impeachment-proof" President by way of who his replacement would be.  Obama makes me nervous because his lack of experience leaves me unsure whether he'll make the right decisions, but I KNOW Biden will make the wrong decisions.

I can't view the clip from where I am, but I'm guessing it's the bit about Chris claiming he thinks it's his duty to help Obama succeed. I've heard Bill O'Reilley say many times that Matthews can say what he wants because he's not a "journalist" as you say but a "commentator." In fact, he gave him credit for being honest about it. I must say I agree with that sentiment.

I agree, but I have more of a problem with Keith Olbermann.  He presents his show as a news program and I've never seen him offer an opposing viewpoint?  Has he ever?  Then every once in a while, he'll presents a "Special Comment" which is obvious commentary, but exascerbates the idea that the preceding 55 minutes of what was just aired was "news".

on O'Reilly, for example, the liberal guests are generally strawmen and it's obvious who's supposed to be right and who's supposed to be wrong to his audience. It's really the same as Olbermann, just with more shouting.

I've seen liberal guests on O'Reilly argue their side very effectively.  Does Olbermann ever have anyone from the other side debate him?

Out here its women who hate her the most, and love to dwell on things like this. If this is a "sexist" campaign against her, most women don't get it. I mean I don't really see what gender has to do with whether you know or don't know whether Africa is a continent or a country. Palin dug her own grave by screwing up badly in the interviews, so the current allegations are sticking whether or not they are true. And women seem to be the ones most interested in spreading them; they really hate her with a passion.
