Actually, I think the poll is just kind of screwy.  I also think there's no way that 61% of Republicans know who Jindal is.  I'm sure it's way lower than that.  In all likelihood, a large share of that 21% is people who have no clue who Jindal is, but say they have an unfavorable opinion of him because the only thing they're going on is his name.

Gore wins in 2004 without 9/11

Which means about as much as saying, "Bush wins in a landslide in 2000 without California, New York and Illinois in the Union."

no...  obviously in the early polls that had Gore ahead, nobody knew 9/11 would happen, especially not Gore himself.  I am sure that he 100% intended to run again until 9/11 changed the landscape.

The early polls? They were taken when...in May 2001? Yeah, that means a lot.

Again, it's a moot point. 9/11 did happen and it happened early in Bush's term so arguing that Gore would have won without it happening is pointless.
