I think this is an interesting fact that come the 111th Congress, 23 of the senators will have been there for 2 years or less. They were the 10 senators elected in the 2006 cycle, John Barrasso and Roger Wicker, the 8 senators elected in the 2008 cycle, and whoever replaces Obama, Biden, and Stevens. The number could be as high as 25 if something happens with the recount in MN and the runoff in GA. Any opinions on this?

2007: 20 Senators
2005: 20 Senators
2003: 21 Senators
2001: 21 Senators

Sure doesn't seem like it; I tried 1977, and it had 25 Senators; 1961 had 29, but of course 1958 was a massive year for the Democrats.

Would have thought it would be higher, what with the huge turnover in 1980.
