With newson's endorsement of Prop 8, he will have significant support in the upcoming election.

Lol, I'm pretty sure he didn't endorse Prop 8.

Newsom is a cool dude, but he probably isn't electable statewide.

Gavin Newsom would be California's best looking Governor ever.

Gavin Newsom would be California's best looking Governor ever.

So would Loretta Sanchez, incidentally. And even Antonio Villaraigosa isn't bad looking for 55.

Anyway, Newsom will be the Democratic nominee if both Villaraigosa and Sanchez run. If only one of them runs, that one will be the Democratic nominee.

Considering where the state is financially I think they need an astute businessman or businesswoman in this case. So I am leaning towards Whitmen but I also like Poizner. Campbell seems okay but he is a former congressmen and I think CA needs a good competent Executive or administrator right now like Whitmen or Poizner.

Well, Campbell is a professor of business administration (at Berkeley, boo hiss for a Republican primary).

I don't think Haas Business School is particularly liberal though - probably explains his libertarianism.

I was not aware of that but still practical application and experience beats theoretical nature of instructing on a subject. Just cause you can teach something does mean you can apply it in the real world. So I am still supporting Whitmen and would also like Poizner should he win.

Poizner is #10 on Chris Cilizza's Ten Republicans to Watch list.

Poizner is definitely not someone to underestimate. He came into a Democratic wave year as a nobody & decisively defeated one of the state's most iconic Democrats to become the Insurance Commissioner.

I'd actually totally support Poizner or Campbell to run this state over most Democratic contenders (supposing I don't do work for the Dem's campaign, which I probably would).

Social issues don't even matter for these guys, eh?

Governors are a different breed from legislators or presidents.  Davis is an example of how you can screw up a state regardless of ideology.  Best to get competent people first and then ideological matches second for this type of position.

Campbell was also California's Director of Finance in 2004-2005.

True, but "Berkeley professor" is powerful rhetoric. No one has accused bias against universities of having any grounding in reality.
