I'm not talking about the General since I'm just going to assume that I'd lose both of the states in question (assuming the Dem opponent is credible and the states stay the way they are now).

I'm wondering how people think I'd do in the "First in the Nation" states of Iowa and New Hampshire. I have my weird reasoning for why I'd lose. Anyone know why I think that? It's not even based on political reasons.

I had a criminal law prof who had this penchant of asking the class "what am I thinking?"  After the third or so redux of this curious behavior, my mind was suffused with this almost irresistible impulse to inform  him that we were law students, in contradistinction to psychology students, and that perhaps he should ponder the issue of whether or not he had stumbled into the wrong class room. And so it goes. Smiley

Except those are the types of questions they ask you in law school so you would have looked stupid. Tongue

IA I guess because you're Catholic. I don't know why you would lose NH though.

Your name wouldn't fit on signs, so no one would've ever heard of you.

Because, as we all know, signs win elections.

Does it have to do with the fact that in the Iowa Republican Caucus you have to write down the name of a candidate and you feel that no one could spell your last name? That doesn't explain New Hampshire though.

Because you're Italian and Iowans would have a problem voting for a fellow with such an Italian name.

And they'd all politely eat your mother's spicy meatballs (assuming your mother, like any good Italian mother, makes spicy meatballs).. but they'd all be thinking "Uff da those were just a bit on the spicy side.. I think I'll stick with Grandma Olga's Swedish meatball recipe from now on.  Hey.. I'd stay to vote for ya but I gotta get home an' take some Tums.  Nice to meet ya!"

The last big city Italian who ran for the GOP nomination got something like 2% in Iowa.

If you could really call what Guiliani did an actual attempt at running for the nomination, yeah.

I heard Giuliani's Finance Director speak this summer and he told us that Giuliani basically gave up after that health scare he had in December. Not that he had much of a shot before that though.

Anyways, back to Phil.
