Highly unlikely that Obama will win either of the Dakotas in 2012.

South Dakota is the one with the anti-incumbent sentiment (going back before Clinton)

North Dakota, actually- look at 1920, 1932, 1940, 1952, 1980...

North Dakota, actually- look at 1920, 1932, 1940, 1952, 1980...

I think ND had the largest or second-largest swing towards Mondale in 1984, too.

I wonder if there were a lot of people like my mom there. Born in Minnesota and voted for Mondale.

Of course my mom wasn't a fan of Reagan and probably would've voted for Mondale anyway, but point made.
