http://www.politico.com/blogs/thecrypt/1108/Coleman_out_of_NRSC_race.html?showall

Basically, Coleman's recount issues have caused him to basically cede the race to Cornyn.

At the DSCC, Schumer isn't going to run for a third term.  The rumored replacements, I hear, are Bob Menendez (NJ) and Amy Klobuchar (MN).

Chris Van Hollen will be running the DCCC in 2010.  As already noted earlier, I suspect Pete Sessions will be replacing Tom Cole at the NRCC.

Good Lord I hope Menendez doesn't get it.

It's probably the type of thing Menendez would be great at.

Mark Warner should run the DSCC; he would certainly be a good fundraiser.

Menendez is a good backroom type, whereas Torricelli was never much of a team player (and operated well outside the machine—he never had any coattails).  He has plenty of experience running the Hudson County machine, so I figure he'd be pretty decent at running the DSCC.

Torch was probably the best DSCC chair in a while besides Schumer.  Nobody thought Democrats would tie in the Senate in 2000.

It is a shame but if Coleman pulls through we will find some important position to give him. I think Cornyn will do a good job just the same. It was not that Ensign was bad its just that he got dealt a bad hand.

As for the NRCC I have never seen a worse leader than Tom Cole. He let the finaancial scandle explode and the NRCC probably played a hand in costing us at least one of those 3 specials early this year. I hope Sessions performs better.

I don't know why, but the first name that came into my head when I thought of the next DSCC was Claire McCaskill.

Klobuchar?!  Really?  That seems like a position that requires taking risks.  That's not a position I'd expect Klobuchar to be in.

If Elizabeth Dole could get the job on the Republican side then anything is possible.

And look how well she did Roll Eyes  Its not exactly something I'd wish upon the Democrats.

Amy Klobuchar is a lightweight from what I can tell.

I like Ensign when I see him speak. I really think he did the best he could in a tough year, but under no circumstances should Chambliss and Coleman have lost.  We'll see what happens there.

I know Franken is Franken but it was a terrible year and we're talking about Minnesota.
