More to come. Also your votes would be cool, but friendly acknowledgments are okay as well.

If elected, will you vote to repeal Taft-Hartley?  Will you vote to confirm Xahar as AG?

1) Yes, Taft-Hartley was and is horrible legislation.
2) Yes, I'm more than confident in Xahar's ability to be a competent, hard-working Attorney General. He has a deep knowledge of the Atlasian law code and has shown himself to be more than willing to work on updating the Wiki.

Mr. Governor, I believe that you have done a terrific job as Northeast Governor, and I think that you would make an excellent addition to the Senate, which is why I will assure you my vote for second preference.

Ya, the Taft Hartley thingy is a barrier. Lief do you plan to be a knee jerk liberal in the Senate?  Just asking. Smiley

Part of the fun of the game is to be a bit unpredictable in one's vote, and try to form coalitions and persuade and what not, and being a true believer of the one great truth can get in the way of that.

Good, so I'm not the only fiscal conservative who feels that way.

I'd be an independent, albeit left-leaning, voice. There are certain issues where I definitely strongly believe one way or the other, but I'm almost always willing to compromise to get people on board.

I think that looking at it from the view of regional vs. federal rights is the wrong way to go about things. I think that first and foremost we should do whatever makes the game the most fun and the most active. If that means giving the regions more power sometimes, awesome. If that means strengthening the federal government other times, also awesome. It's definitely not a black and white issue. That said, I would not favor abolishing or dissolving the regions in any way, and I do definitely think that we should try to strengthen them and give them more to do, and the Senate can help in that. For instance, not too long ago, there was a bill passed by the Senate concerning the funding of mass transit infrastructure. That bill would have been a good opportunity to empower the regions and spur regional legislative debate, if the Senate had written it to give block grants to the regions so that they could personally decide on how to spend the money. Unfortunately, the final bill was a boring little compromise that gave money to a federal department that may or may not even exist.

Statement from the candidate:

To all my supporters, I know that the recent happenings in the voting thread are annoying and frustrating, and are in many ways a subversion of the democratic process that we hold so dear. However, what was done was, for now, legal. Voting still lasts for a little forty minutes, and I'd ask you to please not start witch hunts or angrily demand that certain peoples be prosecuted. Obviously I would have liked for the election to not be decided this way, and the voting booth is still open, so it may not be, but, for the time being at least, let's keep calm, stay level-headed, and remember that this is just an election. Let's let it conclude smoothly and without further incident.

Thank you,
Governor Lief
