I never would have said this a few months ago, but it looks like the global financial meltdown overshadows the US Presidential election in significance. Unfortunately it'd be politically (and financially) incorrect to name anyone but Obama, so it'll be him; besides, there isn't one person at the center of the financial mess. Paulson is more of a reactor. However if they went with Bernake/Paulson or some such I wouldn't blame them. Others might.

Does TIME still select real people?  I thought they've gone the philosophical route recently with "you," "patient zero," "Osama Bin Laden," etc. etc.
