Sen. Clinton considered for top diplomat: report
«

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Sen. Hillary Clinton, who lost to Barack Obama in the Democratic presidential primary, is being considered to serve as secretary of state in the Obama administration, NBC News reported on Thursday.
The report cited two unnamed advisers to President-elect Obama. The report said Clinton's office would only say that any decisions on the appointment would be up to the president-elect.
The former first lady, who was in a drawn-out battle for the Democratic presidential nomination, is in her second term as a senator from New York.
Several other names also have been mentioned for the top U.S. diplomatic post including Sen. John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee; Sam Nunn, a Democrat and former Senate Armed Services Committee chairman; Sen. Chuck Hagel, an outspoken Republican member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who was U.N. ambassador in former President Bill Clinton's administration and also sought the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.

An interesting story, however, I highly doubt Obama wants Hillary anywhere in his administration.
Obama could better use Clinton as a valuable ally in the Senate.

This is nonsense. Along with the reports that she was being considered for 1) vice president 2) senate majority leader 3) secretary of health and services 4) supreme court justice

Haha, I haven't heard the Supreme Court Justice one yet, xfactor. Is anyone really saying that?
This "leak" means one of three things.
1. Obama is considering Hillary for the position and wanted to test the waters first.
2. Obama wants to appear to be considering her (for PR reasons or whatever) without actually seriously considering her.
3. Obama's White House is a lot looser than Obama's campaign. Nothing this big would have been leaked on accident during the campaign.

Well, I don't want her as Sec. of State, but I also don't want her representing my state in the Senate any longer... I'm torn!

It was a silly notion that was popular during the primaries as a way to appease her without giving her the presidency. Google "Hillary supreme court justice" and you'll get a lot of results from that time period.

If this is true, then Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Ted Kennedy (the last two being presumed) should watch out for themselves, in that order.

I'm pretty sure that Byrd, not Kennedy, is the Pro Tempore of the Senate.

Secretary of State? Oh c'mon there is no power there.
I sincerely thought she'd be a Supreme Court nominee.

Sounds problematic. Condi Rice isn't taken seriously because no one thinks she can make policy at home or influence George W. Bush. Hmm, how does that play out when the Sec. of State is known to be a rival of the President.
