I don't know if this has been posted before, but the territory of Guam has been holding a straw poll for presidential elections since 1984. As far as I know it's the only territory that does this. This year Obama won quite handily:

Obama 20,120 (62.76%)
McCain 11,940 (37.24%)

It's a huge swing to Obama; in 2004 Kerry won only 35%. In 2000, Bush won narrowly. Guam went for Clinton both in 1996 and 1992, for Bush in 1988, and for Reagan in 1984.

Did the turnout massively increase or did 10,000 people switch their votes from Bush to Obama?

A massive swing wouldn't be surprising.  Even in Hawai'i, Pacific Islanders voted heavily Gore in 2000, Bush in '04, and swung way to Obama in '08.  They're the most pro-incumbent voting bloc in the U.S.

(Although that doesn't mean that varying turnout was necessarily an insignificant factor.  It's a straw poll, after all.)

Bush got 17,264 votes and Kerry 9,540 (plus 153 for Nader and 53 for Badnarik). There must've been quite a number of Bush-Obama voters.
