BTW I've decided people from Austin must not have Southern accents either. I have to talk to people at an Austin call center all the time at my job and I've never heard one.

Or the people who work there aren't locals (more likely)

I doubt it. They're doing the exact same job I do, just for a different division, and all the people at my center are locals.

You don't live in one of the highest migrant areas in the country though...

I grew up in Houston and I don't have a Southern accent, nor do at least half the people in my neighborhood.

People in Austin don't have southern accents. You could have just asked me (or one of the other Austinite posters). Some of the older people have Texan accents, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone younger than 50 or so with much of an accent at all. Most everyone says ya'll however, but I know people from Omaha (the capital of Standard American English) who say ya'll.

Lunar's also right though. A good portion of the people who live in Austin didn't grow up there.

I also HAVE to look up someone's area code when they have a really thick accent. I'm now good at identifying regional variations of southern accents. I can recognize Louisiana easily.

I've gotten some weird ones though. Like a guy with a Brooklyn accent in Mississippi.

My accent is kinda raped, I had a Midwestern Speech teacher. I have this weird combination accent.

I have a clear Deep South accent, since I lived in Mississippi until I was 14.

I speak Bengali with a clear English accent (it used to be very thick, but I'm working on it).

The funny thing is, I miss the days of the spam on forum community being random BRTD polls.

I pray for BRTD, I really do. I hope one day he has something going on in his life so he won't have to obsess over whether a 14 year old boy in Virginia, whom he'll never meet, has a southern accent.

Not quite as bad as Eraser's obsession with Stark.
That is you dumb dumb.

...yet another post he has deleted.

I speak English with a thick French accent.

According to my French family, I speak French with a heavy Quebecois accent. According to my Quebec family, I speak French with a heavy French France accent. Funny.

I speak English with a slightly strange watered-down Scottish accent. People sometimes think I'm from Edinburgh Sad
