Indeed, I know.  But I'm just saying swing isn't everything.

Swing is everything if you assume a fairly uniform turnout throughout the state.  Nothing so far indicates turnout will be up in Metro Atlanta versus the rest of the state.

How would we even know if turnout has decreased there relatively less?

I don't know if I can recall an election where rural black turnout has been down and urban black turnout has been way up, or vice-versa.  Unless there's a galvanizing rural/urban issue why would it be?

Anyone know why Obama didn't campaign here?

Because he thought there'd be a result like this.

He didn't want to be seen campaigning for a candidate that probably would lose, I suppose.  Even the DSCC didn't fund Martin much.

Obama cut a radio ad.

And with that, Georgia returns to the joke state category.

Well this was to be expected. I wonder if it is going to be a near 20 point win.

Looks like my 55+ prediction isn't so ridiculous after all Smiley

When my predictions are right, that's always good for the GOP.  Here's to the start of the turn around!

I knew it was over when I heard Ludacris was campaigning for Martin.

And with that, Georgia returns to the joke state category.
C'mon Lief, are you surprised?

Calling any state that didn't vote for your candidate a joke state is only somewhat less bad than calling the rest the "real America" or whatever.

Fulton (51% in):
Martin 48,601 (51%)
Chambliss 46,601 (49%)

Fulton went 63-33 Martin in November.  Parts of Atlanta must still be out - but this result more or less held up from the last Fulton data dump.

It's not that. Minnesota won't be a joke state for re-electing Coleman and Kentucky wasn't a joke state for re-electing McConnell. But Saxby Chambliss is just a disgusting human being. LA-02 will be a joke district if they re-elect Bill Jefferson too, so it's not just electing Republicans that makes a state a joke state.

While I am not enamored with Chambliss I am glad he won. I hope he retires in 2014 b/c some of his activities I don't like(Pork Barrel Spending). The good thing is we have plenty of rising stars in the House like Linder, Westmoreland and Price; plus several in the state Senate and House.

Actually, Chambliss is a great Senator, and deserved his crushing win over Martin.

Congratulations Saxby.

Chambliss is basically the dictionary definition of an HP, but it's not really surprising that a state that produced the likes of Bob Dole and Mike Keller would re-elect him.

Have fun without having an power for the next few years Georgia!
