Since many of you know, I figured I could post this here. I had a thought...

France has a large Arabic population. What if her family migrated there and she's part French?

Maybe you should discuss this privately with those people.

Since I am speculating about a French connection, it's much more fun to do so here.  Wink

Well then.  Are you trying to get her into the country?  If so, where is she now?

So she's a French woman of North African descent.  Or, getting back to your original post, she is an Americanized woman of North African descent who may have had French citizenship before she (or her family) emigrated to the United States.

Am I getting warmer?

An Arab-American chick is digging you, but you won't return her affections, so she's trying to have you deported Smiley

Yes.

My whole point is that this girl could possibly be of French descent as well.

Just to be clear, I like this girl that I have class with (I discussed it a bit in Inks' "I quit" thread) and I'm trying to talk to her.

Just introduce yourself man.  It's really that simple.  Women dig it when you're not trying to impress them.  After that she'll either like you or she won't.  Either way, you tried.

And don't try to guess things about her before hand.  The other thing they really like is to be asked about themselves.  That's actually the best way to approach a woman, because then you forget about yourself and any 'does she like me' worries go staight to the back of your mind, where they belong.

Well, it all depends on what kind of girl she is. Is she the type that likes nice guys who will care for them and be nice all the time, or the type that likes assholes and secretly likes being treated like sh**t? Then you'll know how to approach her.

Are you a good student knowing for speaking out in an informed fashion in class?

You may wish to ask her if she wants to meet you for a study session in the closest campus coffee shop. It would be non-threatening, demonstrate some level of interest, while also allowing you as a "shy person" (I'm still getting used to that one!) to ask her out without being too forward.

It wasn't uncommon at all when I was going to school to have study dates with other students in class w/o any weirdness.

Granted if you have a really large class, and aren't particularly outspoken in class, which I would find to be a stretch, she might not even know who you are and you'll just have to try something else.

Oh her.  Well, I'll never ask a girl out unless I'm pretty confident she likes me (yes, Inks is about as insecure as Dennis Kucinich's shot at the Presidency).  My suggestion to you - talk to her about Latin American class stuff.  Offer her help if she needs it, or ask to study together for a test (or I'm sure finals must be coming up soon).

Are you just being your usual shy self?

Yes  Sad

No, not everyday. I usually arrive late and there's not always a seat near her. I arrived early last Wednesday, she arrived late and sat on the other side of the room. She did sit next to me a few times and even asked me if the professor took roll one time!  Tongue

After class on Wednesday, I sat next to her for an hour in the lobby. We were both reading. I, of course, didn't say anything. I'll definitely say something tomorrow if I sit next to her but it'll be something generic and lame (about our final).

I seriously hope she's French. And part Dutch. Then we'll see what happens.

It will be a real dilemma.

Are you a good student knowing for speaking out in an informed fashion in class?

Yeah and our buddy Chavez certainly helped things this past weekend. Every class starts with current events in Latin America. When the professor asks what happened, I'll be sure to speak up.  Smiley

Well, it's key as to whether you sit beside her, or she sits beside you. You see, I had this girl in my econ class that sat beside me for a long time, and I'd pay her no attention and basically annoy her by spreading my papers all over the table (2 person tables) until finally .....
