I have a pretty strict rule about only voting for Democrats in legislative races, but this is one of the times where I'd make an exception.

Born and raised in Algiers (the New Orleans neighborhood, that is). Was a Panther back in the 70s ("defense minister" of the New Orleans chapter, ie in charge of guns procurement Grin ), has been big in umpteen social work / community activist / whatever projects ever since he foreswore violence 30 years ago - working in homeless shelters, prison reform (working with that nun from "Dead Man Walking"), organizing New Orleans' first Free Clinic on the Calif. model, you name it he's done it basically.

Jefferson will win of course.
