No of course not if he thought Dole, a pretty standard conservative, was some type of "worker's friend" or extreme populist.

This was basically his motto regarding 2012: "if he's a populist, then I shall support him".

He didn't seem to have any actual clue as to who was a populist and who wasn't though...

The fact that he didn't even know much about the possible 2012 candidates leads me to believe that he wouldn't know much about someone like Dole's politics either.

Then there's the fact that he basically patterned his politics around being what's basically a caricature of populists promoted by libertarians and the like. He once openly referred to himself as a statist, a term that's basically only used in a derogatory manner.
