The Muslim conspiracy theorists are going to love this- http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/04/us/politics/04web-cooper.html?_r=2

Image if he said this: 'I come to the Muslim world today to declare that I am on of you, a fellow Muslim. I declare loyalty to Islam and loyalty to my fellow Muslim brothers. Death to America! Death to the white man!'.

But he wont say that of course, he will say stuff about peace, harmony and understanding probably.

Seriously though, this is quite exciting. Obama's big style is carrying on after the campaign too.

Is this supposed to be like a Berlin political rally-esque speech? In how many of these countries are non-government authorized political rallies even legal?

Aesthetically, it'd be cool if he gave his speech against the backdrop of the completed Burj Dubai or Burj Al Arab. Or from within Al-Masjid al-Haram against the backdrop of the Kaaba Tongue

Wouldn't a crypto-muslim be considered an apostate anyway?

Yeah.

Its funny since as late as 2006 he was listed as a "Muslim convert to Christianity" on Wikipedia. My source of fascination with him.

But if anything he's probably extremely secular type of Christian who joined the church for organization more than anything and was only vaguely Muslim to begin with.

Even if his father or step-father weren't they at least have to have had some semi or vaguely religious people in their family.

This is kind of funny in a way too.

Excerpt from an Amir Taheri article published a month ago.

I'm going to really see if I can find the reference to this that dates to the 1700s.

It's my understanding that Obama was an atheist into his mid-20s and that both of his parents were atheists. That said, I'm sure many muslims still consider him an apostate because he had muslim ancestors on his father's side or whatever.

wouldn't his father be the apostate since  he's the one who actually left Islam?

You'd think so but many muslim extremists would also consider him one despite the fact that these circumstances were beyond his control. An unforgiving bunch, they are.
