It seems like the region of the country I come from is ignored when choosing a Presidential candidate.  The only candidates in recent history are Mondale and Ford.  However, if there were a good moderate enough candidate who was from the midwest, they could possibly deliver the "tie-breaking" electoral votes.  We're probably the biggest swing area.  Consider Minnesota which is a longstanding liberal state came close in this election and in 1984.  My home state of Michigan is progressively less liberal (in prez elections) following the trends of '96, '00 and '04.  Iowa was one of three states to change in 2004.  Possible candidates: Evan Bayh, Jim Doyle, and Candice Miller.  Candice is my didstrict's Rep, she just got into it in 2002, but she was previously Secretary of State, she's in her early 50s, and pretty popular.  Any other suggestions for a Midwesterner?

Because Obama won ONE election you're considering a presidential candidate? However, for fairness' sake, I will admit that I do not know much about him.

Well for Republicans there is my hero Senator Grassley of Iowa and soon to be Governor Jim Nussle of Iowa.

James Trafficant.

Seriously though, Bayh, Fiengold, Doyle, Vilsack, and Blagovech for the Dems, and Pawlenty, Thompson, and Voinovich for the GOP. Wellstone should be among the Dems Sad

Favor: 38%
Oppose, too liberal: 39%
Oppose, not liberal enough: 11%
No opinion: 13%
