Nobody has offered up a prediction?? I guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a go.

Cheney would be one of the most unlikeable nominees in history. By 2008, the US was already in a recession, even without the financial crisis, and Bush's approval ratings were mired in the low 30s and high 20s. Conservative turnout is significantly depressed.

It's a bloodbath. Obama wins 407 to 101 in the electoral college. In the popular vote he receives about 56% of the vote to Cheney's 42%.

Cheney pretty much had all the problems that McCain did, except worse.
Obama would certainly have a shot at 400.

I agree with the general consensus here, that Obama would have won even more electoral votes had Cheney run.

Also, who would Cheney pick as his running mate?

Obama- 443
Cheney- 95

Remember, though, Cheney pulled a Sherman and had said everything from "no" to "hell, no".

I agree. Not sure who Cheney would pick, but I doubt it would be a female candidate like Palin. Expect someone old and boring like him.

Cheney's general unpopularity, health problems and lack of charisma lead to a bigger Obama victory:

Dick Cheney might've picked Lieberman, if not McCain. Someone who was as pro-Iraq as he was.

That doesn't change things a lot. Bush approval ratings were pretty horrible because of the Iraq and Afhganinstan. Even without a Financial Crises, I can see Obama winning. However, I believe that Hillary  would easily get the nomination.

So, plus Cheney, minus financial crisis... you pretty much get what actually happened in 2008.

The financial crisis not happening wouldn't affect the Democratic Primaries much at all, so I'm sure Obama would still get the nod, or at least make it a race.

You may be right but, with the economy on a reasonable situation, people would prefer a more estabilishment lady than a surprising guy that came from nowhere... Am I wrong?

"Republicans fall in line, Democrats fall in love" is the not-so-old saying. Obama's a great public speaker and had a great campaign in 2008. He'd have been fine

Probably somewhere between 2012 and 2008 if the crisis does not happen. Cheney is a good politician, but everyone who he would need to win comfortably probably was sick of him since the first year and  those who he needed to win at all probably were sick of him since the arrogance that was the surge.

Cheney hates McCain and he ran against Lieberman for VP in 2000.

Obama would have won 65% of the vote easily, Cheney would have probably picked either Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist or Mitt Romney for Vice President.
