I'm not. We have to stop his policies before they get started.

The country cannot afford such an episode.  And besides, would you rather have Biden?

"Candidate 1" = Valerie Jarrett?
"Candidate 5" = Jesse Jackson, Jr.?

Those are my guesses.

Those guesses are guaranteed to be correct.

edit: Jones could be 5.

Jones would offer half a million dollars for a two year appointment?

Also, I think we should all be thankful that Obama seems to have come out of this unscathed.

We can survive almost anything.  Will we be better off under Obama's policies?  A few weeks ago I would have said "probably not".  But if Obama's policies coincide with Summers'/Romer's/Volcker's/Geithner's/Orszag's policies, then I think we just might be better off.

I've been reading the affidavit, and it mentions Obama (quoted as "President-elect"), but never says if he knew anything.

Affidavit is here: http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/acrobat/2008-12/43789434.pdf

Obama's team promised nothing but "appreciation" for Jarrett being appointed, causing Blago to call the president-elect a "motherf-er."  Notice how Jarrett quickly took her name out of consideration a month or so ago?

Blago also tried to get to be appointed Health and Human Services, prompting Obama to cut him off and appoint Daschle.

Right, I'm not accusing Obama of any wrong-doing.  In fact, the prosecutor said he doesn't think Obama was involved.

President-elect Barack Obama said this afternoon he had no dealings with Gov. Rod Blagojevich over who would replace Obama in the U.S. Senate.

I had no contact with the governor or his office, and so I was not aware of what was happening," he told reporters.

The criminal complaint against Blagojevich alleged that he wanted concessions from the president-elect to name a replacement to Obama's liking.

Obama said he was "saddened and sobered" by Blagojevich's arrest.

Could someone please do an approval poll of Blagojevich? It would be what, 2-3%?

What was going through his head...

I believe he recently had a poll -- one of these weird ones where "fair" is counted as disapprove, granted -- where his approval rating was 0%.

Just good ol' fashioned Cook County politics...  And now to think that we have a protege of theirs in the White House.

LOL. Obama's career was the creature of William Ayres, but before that, he was the lifelong protege of Rev. Wright, or maybe Saul Alinsky... success has a thousand fathers but this is a new variant of that theme.

We knew Blago would go down eventually. This is all pretty funny though, I must say.

I guess the 10% of voters who went for that Green candidate last time around are feeling pretty vindicated right now.

Muon disagrees (on the second point, not the first). I must admit I plead ignorance on how much influence they've had on him; I guess we'll find out.

Will Illinois become the first state ever to have two former Governors in prison simultaneously?

And would you trust muon or Spade to know more about the situation there? Not a tough one for me...
