Yes, I would say roughly so. Many other countries do.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_Quota_Act

That really helped avert the Great Depression...oh wait, it worsened it.  Forgot.

Also, since we're absorbing so many highly educated people from Asia, it would be insanely stupid.

What do you think about Israel's immigration policy? There policy is called the law of return. Some European Countries have more moderate versions of it.

Great point.  Yes, I would say that restricting immigration to mainly only one ethnicity, even if you are a small state with limited resources, for the purposes of social cohesion and sate identity is a bad thing economically and ethically.

I am perfectly fine with the Law of Return, because it doesn't prevent non-Jews from immigrating.

Absurd.  The people deserving to be able to immigrate to the United States, no matter whether you slice it by if it's the neediest or the most educated who merit it, aren't coming from countries that "represent current demographic balance".

They allow some non-Jews as guest workers but it is very difficult as immigrants. Would you allow the same for European Nations and Western Nations?

It isn't, actually.  Also, I don't particularly care about the immigration policies of most countries; I don't even care about Israel's all that much.

That's not really the way to go about it. Firstly, close down immigration in general to a few hundred thousand at most and allocate the remaining few slots as follows. First worlders first priority, latins/east euros second priority, christian africans/chinese third priority and none of other groups besides a few students/tourists.

Also, offer anyone who wants to emigrate from the US and has a country that'll take them a years wages without tax and paid travel to leave and not return(they get citizenship in their new homeland).

That isn't a bad idea. There should also be a cap of 20,000 per nation/per year.

No. We should focus on skilled labor and/or minimizing security concerns. Ethnic restrictions make no sense.

Offer green cards for those complete technical degrees but remove the parts of our immigration policies that favor 'family reunification'(liberal code words for chain migration). Take the brainy types but don't let them bring their relatives from the old country. They can find an american wife/husband.

I could move to Israel in a heartbeat if I wanted to. It's certainly easier for me than the United States.

And if they're already married?

I like how they have to be "Christian" Africans too.

Ridiculous, racist,, and 100% destructive to the economy.  For example, African immigrants have the highest PhD rate of any continent.
