Highly, highly negative, and stupid as well.  Honestly only reflects a narrow-mindedness and lack of travel, as well as a willingness to believe stereotypes that reflects an incredibly shallow gullibility.

Positive. How else would you form generalized judgments about places you've never been?

I have a much more negative opinion of the people who openly strive to exemplify said stereotypes.

this

If you don't want the rest of the country thinking the south is full of fundie red necks you'll need to get rid of most of the fundie red necks.  If you don't want the rest of the country to think the northeast is full of assholes you'll need to get rid of the assholes.  If you don't want the rest of the country to think Nebraska is full of inteligent and attractive people you just have to show them Nebraska.

What I think is even more ridiculous is assuming an area must be wonderful b/c of desirable voting returns. I love the way the slums vote but I sure don't want to live there.

I just can't stand living around heretics. I'm glad that 89% of the people where I live support our Lord and Savior, unlike the suburbs that follow the dark path.

I can't tell whether you're being serious or not. I really hope you're not.
For example, here's a home in a > 90% Obama neighborhood:
http://www.realtor.com/search/listingdetail.aspx?pg=32&srcnt=323&sid=53f557179a2148348162bdff5b917416&fhcnt=4&loc=38109&usrloc=38109&fhpg=1&lid=1105224921&lsn=319

Not a neighborhood I'd want to live in.

Any sane person would rather live (just a couple of blocks from me) here, irrespective of voting patterns:

Hmmmm, $20 a month or $637 a month? I know what I'd rather pay.

Those quoted amounts are such jokes. Realtors are full of crap. That doesn't include property tax or insurance, assumes a nice down payment and a good interest rate. Really don't think you'd last a day in the first neighborhood though. FWIW, the second one is much more "inner-city" and dense.

I love bashing Alberta for that reason. Also because Albertans are weird people.

You protestant heretics will be returned to the fold of Mother Church whether you want it or not. Your five centuries of sin will be ended and the worst deviations(Baptist church, mormonism, deviant midwest lutherans) will be entirely purged by the inquisition.

We midwesterners may appear to be friendly, but we have no qualms about spiking a little cyanide in the sherbet punch at the local Catholic potluck.
