Jerry Brown becomes governor again.
His previous terms were before the term-limits applied, BTW.

If Newsom runs

Someone not named Brown or Newsom becomes gov.  Since I'm involved in the Villaraigosa campaign, I gotta root for Antonio.

If Newsom stays home

Brown wins.  His most recent direct overture to the homosexual and generic liberal netroots communities gives him a huge boost.

I think we will be looking at Governor-Elect Steve Poizner in 2010.

That's awfully optimistic of you.   I'm really inclined to th ink we'll be looking at Gov-Elect (D) supposing Newsom doesn't get the nod.

Is Poizner even a RINO like Schwarz?

I sure hope so.  If Feinstein is nominated, though, there's no way we will win.

Poizner is pretty liberal for a Republican and more so then Arnold but still more conservative then say someone like Chafee or Bloomburg, at least that is what I can sense.

Then will the CA GOP be willing to elect a RINO in their primary who doesn't have star power?

I have a feeling the Orange County money is pretty pragmatic, actually.

But then there's Whitman and Campbell (whom I secretly pray is our next gov) too.  Campbell might break up some of Poizner's libertarian base.

Poizner keep in mind also has plenty of money and I think will win the primary as he appears to be among few Republicans who can hold onto the Governorship

Hopefully so. I detest Gavin newsom, though I admire his work for the fags, I mean gays.

Ouch. Smiley

I'd like Governor Newsom but I fear he's unelectable, especially in the western parts of the state, and probably down south.

I don't hate him, I just think he ruined the No on 8 cause. Besides, I think he will lose to Poizner by about 5-10 points. He is unelectable, due to his affair with his campaign manager's wife, (Ouch) and Poizner has a solid background in economics, Plus I live in the Bay Area, A Hotbed of Liberal Politcal Correctness, and this is really the only place he appeals, really.

It doesn't matter if he's good with the economy. I'm sure you understand California voters, and you should know why they didn't re-elect a Democrat and opted for Arnold. These are probably what people will be thinking of while in the voting booth if it were today.

Deficit?

Republican control.

Anger.

Also oops, in my previous post I said Newsom couldn't win the western part of the state but I meant east... hope no one noticed.

I like Steve, but it's far too early to making any statements about anything, speculative or not.

Both parties are to blame and Steve is a RINO, and Democrats control the legislature. ANd Arnie just does democrat things now. I'll vote for Brown, Villargosa (happily), Sanchez, and FIenStein over newsom.

I see this happening:

Newsom: 43%
Poizner: 55%

What's with your capitalization?

And no, Poizner doesn't win.

my Capitalization Is Very screwy. I don't Know who Will win, just A random Guess. I see him beating Newsom, but I was overstating His win. Maybe 48-45 is better. I will vote for Villagrossa though, he Is a Capable leader. Villagrossa, Sanchez, and Brown I will all support.

God, Newsom is flooding Facebook with his "Newsom for California" ads:

And I'm jealous that he's beating out my Antonio FB page Sad
