Those aren't the people who watch those movies though. Freshmen still are in the phase where raunchy comedies and bloody action and horror movies are the best. The people into this type of stuff are usually grad students or around that age.

Regularly use MySpace and/or Facebook - which one?  BIG difference

Give the age for both then.

on the latter, I would say 15 and 24ish respectively.  You can figure out which is which.

As a political insider once told me "Only high schoolers and pedophiles use MySpace, but Pedophiles can vote!"

Regularly use MySpace and/or Facebook - MySpace, 18. Facebook, 30.

Maybe that's how young people feel about the rest of us using Facebook, but from the other side of 30, I can tell you me and my friends use it as much or more than the teenagers do. It's useful for us, too. I have a college-age cousin on Facebook and we do use it differently... less shorthand, more newsy posted items, less "Jane Doe is TOMMMMMMMM..." or "Jane Doe is TWO WEEKSSSSS....." (I still don't understand what she's saying by that.) I'd feel weird on MySpace, the same way I don't belong on that MySpace-ish "Post a Picture" thread, but Facebook's different.

And guess what, not only am I old, but my mother's on Facebook now, too.

How many 15 year olds go to these type of movies? Most would be bored to death. The only way I could see any 15 year old actually wanting to see one is if it was one of those quasi-porn type movies like Baise Moi. Most of the people who watch them tend to be grad students or early 30s "intellectual" types.

BTW what I'm mostly referring to here are quasi-porn European arthouse flicks, the entire "mumblecore" genre, any non-mainstream thing directed by Gus van Sant, any Canadian movie which is actually marketed as a "foreign film" in the US, etc. David Lynch's Inland Empire included.

Most of this it's always immature to do. I hate all frat boys, emos, and scenesters, so that sort of takes out the list for me.

I know that, but there are exceptions. Like I was. (A 15 year-old who watches say Inland Empire and assumes a face of "OMG AIM SO DEEP!!111 was more what I'm talking about.)

I was watching mostly arthouse films/fifty-year-old musicals when I was sixteen.  Since then I've realized that being able to talk to mainstream people is every bit as important as being seen as a pretentious snob Wink, so I started watching ordinary films too.

Seriously, I don't think I'll grow out of finding older Woody Allen or Ingmar Bergman (RIP, but the movies are still good) or Akira Kurosawa (likewise) films more stimulating than a Hollywood "blockbuster."

You can't seem to grasp my distinction, watching those movies is fine (especially if we talking about Woody Allen, not so much Garden State) claiming that you are somekind of deep individual because you watch them is not and a total sign of immaturity.

Also, I agree with what The Mikado said.

By scenesters do you mean those who listen to Brand New, Say Anything, Blink-182 and old Fall Out Boy or those who listen to Underoath, 3OH!3, All Time Low and Bring Me The Horizon?
