Also the Senate 'elects' an Emperor from amongst their own.

Will we still be doing this?  I would support it. Smiley

Works for me.

As of right now, I am, but I'd be glad to hand it over to someone more competent.

How about around the Second Punic War?... We won't have to appoint an Emperor that way, but we'll need to decide on two Consuls.

Another period might be around the time of Augustus?

I agree with the Second punic war period, however I don't think that there will be able to be as many Senators, but others could serve in military capacities.

I'm unfamiliar with the Roman map at this point, however, I know there are certainly fewer Roman satellites than what was listed, certainly Africa would be off the list.

The Roman sphere of influence was quite large however, but everything was shared with Carthage... So, I mean, we could start the game as is, and not worry so much about specific allocation of representation...

Well, if you do, then I suggest some people take up two representations or we redraw the map... Because I don't know that we'll have enough players...

I'm also taking Narbonensis and Pontus on top of Italia Superior. If a couple others would like to pick up one more, we still have Lusitania and Asia.

It wasn't taken at the restart. But you can have it. Only Lusitania is left. Then we can get started.

We can take three?

I took three to speed things up. If you want Lusitania, it's available.

Dr. Cynic, is it ok if I manage Pontus, considering its proximity to my designated region?

Indeed. You can have Pontus.

Well, given the time period, I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I'm posting the mini-bio so we can get into the spirit with Roman names and the like.

NAME: MARCUS PONTIUS MARCELLUS

REPRESENTING: ITALIA SUPERIOR & NARBONENSIS

I have two.

Name: Priscus Naso Mergus

Representing: Dalmatia

Age: 52

and

Name: Blaesus Crassus Crassipes

Representing: Hispania

Age: 37

Well, wait, you can only have one name because dispite representing both territories, we each only get one vote, or that would totally screw the balance up.

Should I maybe resign my place as a Senator so I can take over as king of Egypt?

No, I don't think that would be necessary. You could certainly "speak for" the King, but I'd like to keep you in the Senate.

Once everyone has picked their name, we can go ahead and pick either two consuls or an Emperor...

I'd like to call for consulships rather than imperial powers.

Those that haven't selected a Roman name, just put it in your next post.

Let's now open nominations for the two consul positions. Be sure to state if you accept and win said nomination whether you'd prefer to work as domestic of foreign policy consul.

Antonicus has been nominated for foreign policy consul. Any opposed?

Any nominations for domestic consul?

While a return to democratic normality is somewhat refreshing, would the Senate not agree that we perhaps lack a robust titular leadership?

Up until now Titus, I have been unofficially working as Senate Chair. It would be fine if anyone deemed themselves better Senate leaders than I could be.

Being not much older than yourself, Senator, I surely understand and accept your apologies. As Senator Antonicus has pointed out, it is deemed more expedient to have two consuls whose terms will rotate, rather than a dictator whom may prove to be unfit.
