the birth of modern america & onward election Frederick Douglas becomes the 1st African American president of the united states when he wins election to the office in 1892 only 30 years after the height of slavery in the United States. He narrowly wins reelection in 1896 against William Jennings Bryan. Douglas runs again in 1900 and even indicated his interest in a 4th run in 1904 but Grover Cleveland wins the 1900 election.

Alison Grimes 41%
Garrison Porter 55%

Alison Grimes vs Garrison Porter (141-35)
President of the United States of America
Spoiler: The election showed a really strong turnout among the Republican base. Almost the opposite of 2012 in real life where minority voters turned out big and conservatives stayed home. Here the turnout with conservatives is really big and minority voters overall stay home. Alison Grimes is a strong candidate so hats off to Garrison Porter for convincing regular Democrat constituents to stay home on election day. Interesting is some states that on a pretty regular basis give Garrison Porter 60%+ of the vote do not and some that normally do not do. In the Grimes-Porter election where the poll showed Garrison Porter up 13 he underperformed the poll specifically in the popular vote and here up 14 in the poll he by 00.51% he over performed the poll in the popular vote.

States decided by 2% or less: Kentucky, Ohio, Wisconsin, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Kansas, North Dakota, Montana, California, Indiana, North Carolina, Nebraska, South Dakota. Lets say the states decided by 2% or less that went to Alison Grimes and those that went to myself were traded. The ones in this category going to Grimes to me and from me to Alison Grimes the map would have looked like the following:

Do you just crank the difficulty settings down to the easiest after you lose a game? How dull

No every election of these is the most difficult level the game offers.

That would have to be a shocker. Maryland going to Garrison Porter. Its a traditionally Democratic state. Its something we can assume left over from Garrison Porter sweeping the East Coast two elections ago. Maryland and its 10 electoral votes and the 3 coming from the District of Columbia cast their electoral votes for the same candidate. The District of Columbia going automatically for which ever candidate wins in Maryland and its electoral college votes. Maryland and its 13 electoral college votes go to Garrison Porter.

Garrison Porter may not carry Maryland tonight but he does win another Democratic stronghold. That being Massachusetts. The Republican carries the bay state with 52% of the vote statewide. That 144-38 number is 144 wins and 38 losses nationally. Meaning in terms of this game Garrison Porter wins 79.12 percent of the time.

the birth of modern america & onward election Frederick Douglas becomes the 1st African American president of the united states when he wins election to the office in 1892 only 30 years after the height of slavery in the United States. He narrowly wins reelection in 1896 against William Jennings Bryan. Douglas runs again in 1900 and even indicated his interest in a 4th run in 1904 but Grover Cleveland wins the 1900 election.

Yes George Wallace won nine states both times. Almost the same nine states but not. No need in doing ten states by widest margins won for Wallace and ten by narrowest margins because he did not win ten states either time to begin with. The second of these two elections Michigan was colored in blue in opinion polls before election day but the state went for Porter/Hathaway. It was good to hang on to the state and its 17 electoral votes. Letting Wallace take two of the three (Minnesota and Wisconsin and Michigan) from me is not something I really wanted to do. I would rather have Michigan than Wisconsin so that worked out. Illinois just has its pants in a wad; I mean there is nothing else to say about that. Its a little impossible or so it seems for George Wallace to be elected because no one figuratively speaking wants a at least one time segregationist to be President. In my opinion who can blame them.
