The next election covered is another match-up between John Edwards and Garrison Porter. No not the best of six; this time just one election. John Edwards takes John Kerry as his running mate. John Kerry the Massachusetts senator for 29 (January 1985 to January 2013) years and 2004 nominee for President and current Secretary of State. Garrison Porter takes Richard Nixon as his running mate. Richard Nixon a California politician who between his failed 1960 campaign moves to New York and ultimately wins the presidency in 1968 and again in 1972 before becoming the first and to date only President to resign the office. The Edwards/Kerry versus Porter/Nixon campaign took off and Garrison Porter opened up a lead in the early going of as much as 8 points nationally. A good margin for any candidate seeking national election. Come the middle of the campaign the lead was quickly and pretty swiftly erased. With 6 weeks to go John Edwards lead Garrison Porter by 16.
By the time that there is a week until election day Garrison Porter shuts the gap and begins to pull away from John Edwards this time for real leading him by 6 points coming into election day. The last 48 hours see John Edwards and Garrison Porter traveling back and forth and up and down across the country. Polls in New Mexico showed an Edwards lead of 52 to 43 with 5 percent undecided. A lower number than Edwards may like. So Garrison Porter left California after campaigning there and stopped in Albuquerque to fire up the Republican base in New Mexico. He then headed off to Pennsylvania and sent some resources into New York state. Massachusetts only shows a lead for John Edwards of 51 to 47 with 2 percent undecided. John Edwards finished the campaign in Oregon and California and Idaho. Come election day John Edwards and John Kerry await returns in Charlotte North Carolina; the Porter/Nixon camp awaits back in East Tennessee what they think will be good results. Of course the American electorate like any electorate can do anything.

Brad Ellsworth/Woodrow Wilson 49%
Garrison Porter/Dan Coats 47%
Undecided 4%

Brad Ellsworth vs Garrison Porter (156-39)
President of the United States of America
Trailing by twenty six; that is the place Garrison Porter is in more than halfway through an election campaign running against Brad Ellsworth. Brad Ellsworth is a Democrat former Indiana congressman and failed United State Senate Democrat nominee in 2010. Who did he loose to? Dan Coats. Dan Coats is the sitting United State Senator from the Hoosier state. With one week to go and millions of dollars in television advertising spent in California and Kentucky and into North Carolina and Virginia media markets; into Ohio and Illinois and Indiana Garrison Porter still trails by ten with a week to go. How to campaign with a week to go behind by ten? Having won 156 times before surely there is an answer and there is. Throwing everything and the kitchen sink at the opponent. Campaigning until the last hour of the last day; sticking to the same message on the campaign trail and doing whatever has proven the most effective kind of campaigning right up through the time that the polls close.
Often times Garrison Porter is at his best campaigning when there is a deficit in the polls and time is running out. Going for him is the running mates nominated by the Republicans and Democrats. Garrison Porter has proven to win more times than not when Woodrow Wilson is anywhere on the Democrat ticket. Dan Coats is a thorn in the side of Brad Ellsworth; coming from the same state. Clever move putting Coats on the ticket. So clever it can either go really well or really poorly. Now in an election battle that by voting day brings the Ellsworth margin down to two the Republican writes both a victory and a concession speech. Only when the votes are counted will it become known which he will need.

Brad Ellsworth vs Garrison Porter (156-39)
President of the United States of America
10% Precincts Reporting
Ellsworth: 28        Porter: 21        270 to win
24% Precincts Reporting
Ellsworth: 75        Porter: 53        270 to win
40% Precincts Reporting
Ellsworth: 96        Porter: 100        270 to win
Of course forty percent is forty percent. Porter takes a tiny lead. Of course being behind at one point in the campaign by twenty six and then cutting the margin to two a close election is expected on both sides. It is obvious where the votes have reported and where a Democrat would do well and where Garrison Porter would do well.
54% Precincts Reporting
Ellsworth: 173        Porter: 196        270 to win
Garrison Porter expands his lead. It is rather obvious why two big states which together have eighty nine electoral college votes go for the Porter/Coats ticket. Garrison Porter actually carried fifty eight percent of the vote in Indiana; the home state of both the Democrat nominee for President and the Republican nominee for Vice President.
66% Precincts Reporting
Ellsworth: 182        Porter: 226        270 to win
72% Precincts Reporting
Ellsworth: 182        Porter: 272        270 to win
Garrison Porter (157-39)
President of the United States of America
The Republican Garrison Porter wins defeating Brad Ellsworth. The upset election win was not only possible. It happened. Natalie Portman who is not on the ticket does represent Ohio when she is on the ticket. Ohio helped put Garrison Porter over 270 electoral college votes. There are folks out there that should agree Garrison Porter should salute her for carrying him Ohio time and again.
84% Precincts Reporting
Ellsworth: 214        Porter: 278        270 to win
94% Precincts Reporting
Ellsworth: 223        Porter: 299        270 to win

Kennedy: 266        Porter: 179        Undecided: 93        270 to win
The results are kind of scattered in that poll for the Republican candidate. He picks up a little bit as the poll presents what is found in the West. Colorado is good and Nevada. There is Alaska way out there in the corner with Hawaii. Florida must be an alright sign. Garrison Porter was in Mississippi and Georgia and North Carolina in the final two days of the campaign. Porter picked up slim leads in the three states but with a lot of undecided voters in those states. The returns will come at 9 o'clock on the East Coast and midnight; 2 AM and when there is a winner.
John Kennedy vs Garrison Porter (157-40)
President of the United States of America
9 o'clock EST
Kennedy: 111        Porter: 56        270 to win
No winner at 9 o'clock. It must be surprising New York has closed its polls but no winner is yet declared. That was expected to be a Democrat win for John Kennedy according to the opinion poll. Of course if the poll were absolutely correct then no one has any reason to vote. Roughly 181.7 million people have voted in this election matchup. Only South Carolina and Texas and Oklahoma being declared in the South in particular means it is more or less anyones ball game at this point. The Porter camp knows that despite their best effort the opinion poll left much to be desired.
12:00 AM EST
Kennedy: 222        Porter: 147        270 to win
The returns thus far demonstrate how sparse the population is in the Republican parts of the country. Wisconsin going for Porter works well. Wisconsin and its 10 electoral votes can help a Republican win. Those 10 help make up ground if a Republican looses a state like Ohio. It looks like Garrison Porter has lost much more than Ohio tonight and that makes Wisconsin and its result meaningless compared to what it otherwise could have been had these other states been more favorable in their returns for the Porter/Nixon ticket.
2:00 AM EST
Kennedy: 329        Porter: 202        270 to win
John Kennedy
President of the United States of America
John Kennedy wins this election. That's the second straight time John Kennedy defeats Garrison Porter nationally. The previous time seems to have been a more competitive election. The result in Illinois is interesting. If a Republican is going to defeat John Kennedy Texas and Illinois are good places to start (ha). It would have been nice to have Florida. Florida showed a lead for Garrison Porter in the opinion poll but it stays in the Democrat column. Garrison Porter we can imagine will be back to fight another day in Florida and nationally against John Kennedy; not tonight.
He got more electoral votes than George HW Bush did in 1992 and Bob Dole in 1996. Certainly more than Barry Goldwater in 1964. Goldwater probably started the Southern lock Republicans have. Lyndon Johnson almost won Georgia in 1964. He carried Florida narrowly and North Carolina clearly but any whoo. Garrison Porter has won some Lyndon Johnson like landslides before; some against Al Gore but its just not working out quite like that tonight. Illinois is impressive. It would have been nice to have a few other states that went to Kennedy.
Garrison Porter definently won more electoral college votes than John McCain won in 2008 and about as many as Mitt Romney won in 2012.
If were talking Lyndon Johnson and Barry Goldwater; Garrison Porter took more electoral votes than Herbert Hoover did in 1932.
By a mile
And more than William Howard Taft in 1912.
Taft in 1912 carried Utah and Vermont. How times have changed; at least for Vermont.
Election results after certification of all votes cast
Kennedy: 336        Porter: 202        270 to win
National Popular Vote
John Kennedy(MA)/Al Gore(TN) (93480000)
Garrison Porter(TN)/Richard Nixon(CA) (88260000)

Public Opinion Poll
Glendenning/Richardson 49%
Porter/Messing 46%
Undecided 5%
Glendenning: 221        Porter: 150        Undecided: 167        270 to win
That's the opinion poll between the tickets Parris Glendenning/Bill Richardson and Garrison Porter/Debra Messing. Glendenning is a former governor of Maryland and Bill Richardson a former governor of New Mexico. Maine is undecided according to the opinion poll. The graphic was not working for that state. The red and blue is but not the yellow. The election can really go either way here. Garrison Porter if he wants to win needs to make sure he carries Texas and Florida and a handful of other states deemed undecided.
Parris Glendenning vs Garrison Porter (157-41)
President of the United States of America
Actual Result
Glendenning: 272        Porter: 266        270 to win
The surprising results included Ohio. A reversal of fortune for the Republican in the buckeye state. Parris Glendenning took 64% of the vote in Ohio. He ran 8 points better in Ohio than in his home state of Maryland. Georgia is another surprise. Had it voted for Porter as the poll predicted Garrison Porter defies some odds again and wins the election. It may also be surprising that Garrison Porter did so well in the undecided states.
Brad Ellsworth and Garrison Porter meet again in a rematch. It was a close race. Porter took the lead in the polls at the very end of the campaign. Porter campaigned in the final weeks of the campaign like a winner; the polls said it was and when the votes were counted Ellsworth won. It wasn't close.
Ellsworth: 280        Porter: 258        270 to win
Campaign Opinion Poll: Ellsworth/Johnson 46% Porter/Hathaway 49% Undecided 5%. Porter appealed to the base of the Republican party and it felt like a winning campaign when the base responded in big numbers. But the Democrat base responded to their candidate too and in the end leads that Ellsworth had in Pennsylvania and Nevada and Minnesota and Florida all collapsed to at maximum just a few percentage points difference but Ellsworth held them all and walked away with a win. He got revenge over a 26 point deficit being turned back. The Garrison Porter/Anne Hathaway ticket won the popular vote over Brad Ellsworth/Lyndon Johnson. Looking at the map the Porter/Hathaway win in the popular vote should not surprise anyone. Ellsworth carried Florida 50 (W)-50. Garrison Porter and Anne Hathaway won 2 to 1 in Missouri.
National Popular Vote
Brad Ellsworth(IN)/Lyndon Johnson(TX) (82789000)
Garrison Porter(TN)/Anne Hathaway(CA) (86016000)

Jim Sasser the Tennessee Senator in Washington from 1977 until 1995/Jimmy Carter versus Garrison Porter/Ronald Reagan the movie star turned politician; two term governor of California and twice elected President of the United States. Opinion Poll election Sasser/Carter 51% Porter/Reagan 45% Undecided 4%. Without California the election would have been well one where the Republican did not have a chance at winning. States won just out of curiosity Sasser 31 Porter 19. Its something to think about that even carrying only 19 states the Republican comes as close as he does but Sasser wins the election. Popular vote Sasser 90.823 million Porter 79.517.
Looking at these two maps one discovers possibly so how to defeat Garrison Porter nationally in a presidential election race. Opinion poll Jim Sasser/John Kennedy 49% Garrison Porter/Ronald Reagan 45% Undecided 6% and national popular vote Sasser/Kennedy 89.139 million 82.859 million. I am thinking about running again against Jim Sasser with Ronald Reagan returning as my running mate.

Loosing to Jim Sasser twice was not at all what I intended to do. Sasser flexed his political appeal muscles I suppose of having won three elections to statewide office in his career. No small feat. The race against Pat Leahy was easier than I thought it was going to be. The size and breadth and depth of the win did not really surprise me and was when the votes were counted below my expectations. But myself and Jurnee Smollett earned a mandate. Or who can say if we earned it. Americans gave us a mandate to govern. Sasser was a tough opponent. My strategy in those election campaigns was too small. I had plenty of money to spend on television ads in the campaign and spent it the wrong way. The win against Leahy smaller than what my expectations were. Possibly its just humble and taking it all in and thirdly biting off and chewing on it. In real life Pat Leahy is a power house in the United State senate. The senior united state senator representing Vermont. Bernie Sanders is the junior senator from Vermont.

Garrison Porter faces again Pat Leahy. An exact repeat of the previous election; a fifty state sweep is unlikely. But a strong showing by the Republican denies Leahy any claims of a strong national candidacy. Jurnee Smollett again joins Garrison Porter on the Republican ticket.
