I'm watching Religulous as I read this thread and it just hit the Pryor interview in the movie as I read that.

Ah, I guess he didn't look that bad.  Maybe a bit goofy due to editing.  He licked his lips a lot.

Ah, I guess he didn't look that bad.  Maybe a bit goofy due to editing.  He licked his lips a lot.

I thought it went terribly.  He did lick his lips a lot, and seemed to come off as very dumb; he tried to be funny, and it backfired.

To me he didn't come across as dumb.  If you ask any Senator religiously charged questions, they're going to think for five-six seconds before they answer just because a poorly worded answer could kill your career.  He just came across as goofy.

Yeah, it's possible I overreacted.  My parents didn't have the same reaction I did, although they thought he made some mistakes.
