No he didn't. Any actual hacker would consider calling what he did hacking to be an insult. Seriously people, read up on what hacking actually is.

What, actually, did Xahar do?

I may agree that what he did wasn't by definition 'hacking', but that wouldn't have any bearing at all on whether it was wrong or not, or exactly how wrong it was.

You seem to be offering us the "It depends on what the meaning of the words 'is' is." argument.  Good luck with that.

He broke into Ben's e-mail, Atlas, and other accounts, as witnessed by Ben, myself, AHDuke, BrandonH, Bgwah, and Alcon. If that isn't hacking, it is still worthy of a ban.

The other stuff is repulsive, but only the Atlas stuff should matter for banning on Atlas.

I mean, if I went over to Ben's house and beat him up, I don't think I should be banned here Smiley

But I find it repulsive that BRTD's implied attitude is that it's no big deal since it happened to Ben.  Instead of trying to argue it wasn't really hacking to figure out my password and read my private messages and send messages out from my account, I would instead suggest advocating a more moderate punishment on Xahar than permanent banning.

And yes it is hacking

If I find out some idiot at work wrote down his password somewhere and thus I use it to log into and read his company email, is that "hacking"? No.

Don't forget myself. Also let's not forget he impersonated him in at least one instance. Even if he's not guilty of 'hacking' he's committed identity theft.

He also broke into my RPP forum account some time ago. Anyway, I don't know how he got Ben's password, so I can't really answer the question.

Bingo. I've always said that as well. I don't care what happens off of the forum though I'd love to see Xahar get in serious trouble for all of that. What a sorry, disgusting excuse for a person.

He hacked into the account and there is no excuse for that. There should be no leniancy. If this had happened to someone BRTD liked, he'd be singing a different tune, of course.

Back when he exposed its existence, at one point he posted a screenshot from the forum. However, he failed to edit out the moderator options & it was clear from the screenshot that the only other moderator wasn't on at the time. I figured out that he got DC_united to hack it since she had asked me for my password earlier that evening.

The evidence against Xahar has been built to an acceptable amount. Further threads on the topic serve no purpose.

This is why I couldn't take you up on your offer to be AG. Because you probably would've prosecuted Ben to the fullest extent and then dropped all charges against Xahar simply based on how much you like them. Undecided

The only problem is that we're not using the Xahar incident as an excuse to purge the left's ranks on atlas.

I don't know the peple involved or their history etc, but in the context of a forum I would certainly call what happened "hacking".

Dude, differentating "hack" and "crack" went out with command lines and VBScript mass-mailers.  Go back to complaining about mis-appropriation of "emo."

Locking, drama can go elsewhere.
