Blago's approval ratings are even worse than Frank Murkowski's were.

He plays the "martyr card" and the race card, he can hold on for a while.   Right now, he's maneuvered Reid into threatening patently unconstitutional actions to stop his appointee, and can scream, "white lynch mob" if he tries.  The guy is an evil genius.

The political environment has not changed.  It isn't even the Republicans doing it.

Blago by rights should have lost easily in 2006. He faced a moderate statewide office-holding Republican, and already had around a 30% approval rating. I could see a scenario(minor Blago recovery, divided primary field, Oberweis as the GOP nominee) in which he could not only be renominated but win. Not a likely scenario, but not impossible.

Ah yes, such a genius that he has a disapproval rating of 87% and his whole party hating him. So a genius like you.
