I think I read somewhere that he was Hickenlooper's chief of staff.  He is apparently very successful as a superintendent and very respected.  His father was a diplomat and he was born in India.  He was also an early supporter of Obama.  His wife btw is an environmental attorney.

Who is this guy? I mean, will he be a Ben Nelson type or a Russ Feingold type of senator.

my guess is that he will be a harlan matthews type of senator, if you catch my throw.

Why did you ignore my point that he is not a high school principal?

At least this one occurred without any controversy becoming public. Yes he has a (relatively) thin resume, but should be given a chance.

Does anyone here think he will have a competitive primary in 2010?

I doubt Hickenlooper would run against his former COS. Perlmutter, DeGette and Salazar won't give up their safe House seats. That leaves, what, Romanoff? He's young enough that he can wait for another opportunity to run for Congress.

Hmm.  Given that Colorado is a swing state and Bennet has very low name recognition and no experience in elected office or with political fundraising, this will be a challenging seat to defend in 2010.
