In our first day, 63% of you believed that Former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge had some non-negligible chance of running for President.

Next up in our series are the fourth and fifth states to ratify the Constitution, Georgia and Connecticut.

Georgia

Sen. Saxby Chambliss
b. November 10, 1943 [69 at inauguration]

US Representative (GA-8): 1995-2003
US Senator (GA): 2003 -

Gov. Sonny Perdue
b. December 20, 1946 [66 at inauguration]

Georgia State Senator (D-Houston Co.): 1991-1998
Georgia State Senator (R-Houston Co.): 1998-2001
Governor of Georgia: 2003 -

Gov. Johnny Isakson
b. December 28, 1944 [68 at inauguration]

Georgia State Senator: 1993-1997
US Representative (GA-6): 1999-2005
US Senator: 2005 -

Feel free to vote for other prominent Georgians who did not qualify for inclusion (such as a certain Former Speaker of the House) under "Someone Else."

Georgia

Gov. Jodi Rell
b. June 16, 1946 [66 at inauguration]

Connecticut State Representative (Brookfield): 1985-1995
Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut: 1995-2004
Governor of Connecticut: 2004 -

Sen. Joe Lieberman
b. February 24, 1942 [70 at inauguration]

Attorney General of Connecticut: 1983 - 1989
US Senator (D-CT): 1989 - 2007
US Senator (I-CT): 2007 -

Please only vote for Joe Lieberman if you think he'll run for President as a Republican, not launching his own independent bid.

Chambliss: no
Perdue: no
Isakson: no
Rell: ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
Lieberman: no, he is a Democrat.
Newt Gingrich maybe?

(edit: I improperly selected "none of the above" instead of "someone else")

Newt is he only remote possibility and he would just be a rebranding candidate.

The others either don't have it in them (Isakson, Perdue) or wouldn't win in a million years (Rell, Lieberman).  Saxby...I actually think he might be arrogant enough to believe he could enter a presidential race, but he wouldn't go far.

Surprising that Perdue is ahead of "someone else".

Saxby Chambliss would be a great President.

Sure, that's what we need.  A President who calls his political foe a traitor by comparing him to Osama bin Laden.  Pointing out Max Cleland's anti-Americanism was particularly helpful, considering Cleland's past record of selfishness, cowardice and generally unpatriotic behavior.

Saxby Shameless, on the other hand, upheld the true-blue, freedom-loving values of leaders like George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.  And he COULDN'T serve in Vietnam.  I don't know why people are so critical of him.  He had bum knees.  In fact, his bad knees are -- in themselves -- quite a testament to his determination.  Because, in spite of his gimpy knees, he ran track four straight years in college.

Now THAT, my friends, is what we call courage.

(And no -- I'll never get over what was done in 2002.  Ever.)

But the good people of Georgia elected and re-elected Saxby, therefore, they approve.

Saxby would probably end up playing golf instead of ever doing something useful in DC.

What a terrible thing it would be to have one of the nation's most popular Governors as our nominee. </sarcasm>

Are you sure that it was the good people of Georgia, or the not-so-good people?

His smears of a Vietnam veteran incumbent was a disgrace. It's just too bad that someone didn't defeat him in the primary in 2008.
