Cuomo (D) vs. King (R): 48-29
Kennedy (D) vs. King (R): 46-44

Favorable Ratings:

Cuomo: 57% favorable, 20% unfavorable
Kennedy: 44% favorable, 40% unfavorable
King: 34% favorable, 26% unfavorable

Clinton replacement:

Cuomo vs. Kennedy: 58-27

PPP surveyed 700 New York voters on January 3rd and 4th. The survey’s margin of error
is +/-3.7%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed and weighting, may introduce
additional error that is more difficult to quantify.

hmm, so Cuomo very well might be able to successfully primary Kennedy in 2010 even if she is appointed..

I don't like Cuomo either but I don't want any Sarah Palins "representing" me

LOL

Only a two point lead for Kennedy over King? Please pick her, Paterson! We won't win the seat but how I'd love to see a Kennedy fight for something and see the Dems have to waste money in New York.

No republican can win in New York.  I do prefer Cuomo to Kennedy.  He's far more articulate and knowledgable and I think that the next time he decides to run either for a senate seat or for governor, he will win.

That's not a good lead for Caroline, but she's had a lot of bad press one assumes wouldn't exist in such excess in two years

Hey guys, let's pick Mrs. Statistical tie in one of the top 5 bluest states!

Let's hope Paterson isn't a stupid idiot.

If he picks Kennedy, which will be a big surprise to me, I'll be 150% certain that he was strong-armed not because he's stupid.

Besides, Paterson must note that the biggest challengers (Dem and Rep) will be drawn to the seat that the challengers can smell the most blood around.  It might not inherently be a bad idea for Paterson to appoint someone that doesn't reek of invulnerability.

I think on the publicly available facts though, Caroline is one of the worst people he could pick.  Yarr, anyway, I mean, Paterson doesn't exist in the same public world as you and me.

Cuomo's numbers are actually weaker in a head-to-head against King than I thought they'd be.  Not that this means anything really - it's so far off that this is beyond useless.

Oh please pick Kennedy. When was the last time the Dems had to throw in money to prop up incumbents or open Dem seats. 2004. Time to turn the tables. 20 million spent in NY is 20 million less for FL or PA or too prop up the Tsar Reid in NV.
