So, what do we know about the mystery freshmen, Kaufman and Bennet?

Michael Bennet was born in New Delhi, India.

Random trivia. Father worked at the US Embassy IIRC. I wonder if he'd be accused of being a secret Hindu if he ran for President?

Ha, Biden looks like he really doesn't give a sh**t about Gillibrand, particularly in the handshake photo.  And yeah, she could probably do with a diet.  That was a little unexpected.

You're on to something there - she does look like she's eaten at least a few of them, doesn't she?

Is it just me or does Bennett look like a Jewish Huckabee?

His father apparently is a non-practicing christian and his mother a non-practicing jew and he claims to be both jewish and christian (what?).

Under Jewish doctrine, Judaism is passed down through the mother. Bennet is Jewish because his mother is. But even in Poland, the Klejmans were not observant, and he did not grow up practicing that religious tradition.

His father, Douglas J. Bennet, is Christian but also did not actively worship.

"I was raised with two different heritages, one was Jewish and one was Christian," Michael Bennet said. "I am proud that both heritages are part of me, and I believe in God."

If the two senators from Colorado, a state where religion is a non-issue, refuse to come out of the closet, then I doubt anyone will anytime soon.

Let's see if The Daily Forward claims him as the 14th Jewish Senator... they're at the outer limits of "keeping score" but they always do.

You might want to change your avatar from a cat to a jackal.

cool

I think a cat is perfectly appropriate:
