No poll here folks.  You can answer besides HP/FF

How do you feel about starting a poll about another member in an intentional attempt to prove how unliked he is and encourage a piling on effect?

Does your opinion change upon some level of repetition of this insult-based poll?

I wonder who you're talking about!

Actually, this is multiple people.  I don't want to name names but rather discuss the idea.  If it's universally rejected maybe we should refuse to participate in such gang-bangs?

I don't think anybody should start a poll to galvanize underlying negative sentiment towards someone. After all, it makes it harder for everyone if we're running around promoting negativity.

When I hear people repeat an opinion too many times I tend to get moved in the other direction.

I find it childish, but I'm never one of the gang bangers, since I don't think I've voted HP on a forumite yet.

Well that's extremely immature.

I don't really care.  I usually vote FF anyway.

Not necessarily. It can be healthy. And it depends a little on the context. It's usually because people turn me off from their position through the way they argue.

Not necessarily - it can be a natural reaction to hearing an argument too many times (Kerry and his 3 purple hearts or McCain and Vietnam, for example).

A lot of times the polls end up being lopsided and therefore can provide an actual consensus/near-consensus opinion about a particular poster. So, immature yes, inane, no.

I'm fine with them for the most part. I used to do some back in the day when I had more time on my hands.

But you did it for fun, not to show that ____member x_____ was hated by 75% of the forum.

Not sure about the immature / inane dichotomy Wink
