He does not seem to talk much about political views, just on Web site issues. But I am interested, what do you suppose are his political views?

My guess is that he is a moderate conservative, maybe with libertarian leanings.

I'll concede that. How do you know if his stances are as important to him as say your views on many things are to you?

He's probably Republican-leaning since he obviously doesn't appreciate high art (as evidenced by him mod-reviewing me for what I posted.)

I always assumed libertarian, but that's because that's always my assumption for light green avatars until proven otherwise.

Then why did he mod-review me for posting a piece of high art? Libertarians would be tolerant of that I believe.

I wasn't aware that liking Full Metal Jacket was a partisan stance.

That's not what I'm talking about. I was mod-reviewed because I posted something from an arthouse movie which conservatives would no doubt consider degenerate and disgusting trash. Conservatives tend to be real Philistines for this sort of thing. Look at what MODU has said about use of the word "fuck" in film. I'd expect any liberals to appreciate my post for the sheer artistic value.

Huh. I didn't actually see it, but from what was said about the post, I thought for sure that it was Full Metal Jacket.

I do find that most social conservatives have bizarre reactions to things that are basically innocuous, though I'm not remotely bothered by things that gross out most people, so I might not be the best authority.

Here's what happened:

1-benconstine said something really asinine.
2-I posted a .gif of the ending of the extremely powerful opening scene from that film to symbolize my frustration and disgust.
3-I get mod-reviewed for two weeks.

That doesn't prove that Dave Leip is conservative; that proves that Dave Leip recognizes there are conservatives on the board Tongue
