My thoughts exactly.  I may have to come out of retirement if so!

Not just yes. HELL YES. The extreme inequality of wealth in this country is an even bigger problem that inequality of income. I would wholeheartedly endorse lowering income tax rates to get a wealth tax like this.
Have you not read or do you not believe the consequences other people have brought up?

Option 2. I also believe that a large part of our current economic woes are related to extreme concentration of wealth in the hands of a few people. How many GM cars do you think Bill Gates is going to buy with his wealth?

You can reduce inequality without going to Socialist levels. Firstly implement some form of UHC, the burden being taken off of employers means they'd be more likely to lower prices/raise employee wages, make it easier to start a small business, then improve the US educational system and lastly reform the tax code to have no loopholes.

It is always frightening to think of losing you privileges and becoming like the ordinary person (miserable and oppressed).

Fezzy, I like you but rich people aren't a historically oppressed minority in need of special protections.

Haha, in fact they are the 'majority' in terms of power - they, though only maybe 1% at most of the population, hold nearly all the power.

You know Opebo, given that the US is such a hell hole where the 1% of the population that are riches (it might be 3% Opebo; I am not sure I make the 1% cut Tongue), are so busy screwing the 99% (97%) sans culotte balance 24/7, that such sans culottes are rendered "miserable and oppressed," imagine my amazement when I found the chart below on my desk! Maybe in addition to cliches like "peace through strength," and "all power to the people," we should add "happiness through oppression."  What do you think Opebo?  Smiley

The way things are going, I'm starting to feel like the only person who's never been rich to vote no. Tongue

To put it simply, it's not fair. This is why immigrants fled Europe to start new lives here, to be treated equally under the law. Responding to unfair behavior by initiating more unfair behavior will not solve one damn thing.

But I understand where this anger in coming from. The Bush-Dodd crowd bankrupted this country. What do they do? They pull a sh**tload of phony excuses outta their asses to justify why they want to give corrupt millionaires billions. It's obvious, they only wanted the bailout to save their rich friends, period.

Middle/lower class people who defend the rich are the best arguments for violent expropriation of the rich and their supporters.
