Well if Obama expands the government as much as many fear and many hope he will, you can always get a government job.

Mod,

I am so sorry to hear it.  I wish you all the best and hope this bad news actually turns out to be good when you land a better job.  You're a good guy -- you certainly don't deserve this!

Perhaps Mr. Obama will give you a nice, high paying green collar job.

You already live in such a state...

For that matter so does Mr. Moderate.

Which leaves just the second part of the plan.

Mr. Moderate, what was your income before being laid off?

I think the best solution to your problem (and the problem that it causes for the economy as a whole) is a generous dole, to basically replace most of your income with government payments.

Government is actually shrinking up here in Massachusetts for lack of money.  We're talking about laying off teachers and police officers.  Besides, all my government experience involves Mitt Romney and the Massachusetts GOP, which has had enough problems with voter-induced layoffs recently.

If you consider unemployment a generous dole, then count me in!  Half salary plus 90% of my cobra premium to sit around and play video games all day.

You guys are rolling in the dough compared to the California state government. We might not get our tax refunds for a while.

Well that sounds great, though I assume you couldn't live for long on 1/2 your salary.  I for one find it impossible to live on my salary.
