State constitutional conventions were held quite frequently in the 19th century, less so in the 20th and never, to my knowledge in the 21st (not counting when legislatures act as one as in Massachusetts, I'm talking about stand alone bodies).
The last one I believe was  Louisiana in the 1990's and I'm not sure how much they changed the previous constitution.  I know New York has a requirement of a popular referendum on whether to hold one every 30 years (vote last held in 1997).  Advocates of Initiative and referendum, a unicameral legislature etc. generally support holding them as an end run around legislatures.  I'd love to be a delegate to one.
