A bit too conservative for my tastes, but still an FF.

BTW, does he happen to have French-Canadian ancestry? He has an awfully French-Canadian last name.

Good question.  I have often wondered how it is pronounced.  Because he's someone you don't see interviewed on TV or Radio very often.  Silent D?

I like him, even if he's a bit liberal for my tastes. Anyone with such a great civil liberties record automatically gets a FF from me.

Seriously? I looked at his record and I literally see nothing 'conservative' about him. He's easily to the left of 90% of the party.

Uhm, he's pro-life. That's quite a conservative position in the Democratic Party. But he's a liberal for the rest, true.

Okay, next to nothing. Somehow I missed that. It's odd that he's pro-life but so incredibly pro-gay. Not a very common combination in politics.

Must be the thick Maine French accent.

First two para.s on his House website bio page:

"Michael H. Michaud was sworn in as a United States Congressman in January 2003 to represent the Second Congressional District of Maine in Congress.  He is the first recognized Franco-American from Maine to be elected to federal office.

Mike is the second of six children.  He was raised in Medway and attended Schenck High School in East Millinocket.  After graduation, Mike followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, gaining employment at the Great Northern Paper Company. He is a 29 year employee of GNP and is a member of USW Local #4-00037 (formerly PACE Local #1-40037)."

Marcy Kaptur would be another.  And, until his Quixotic first run for President, so was Dennis Kucinich.
