you got suspended for saying f**k?

Wow.

If you said that in front of a teacher or something when I was in high school, they would have said "watch your mouth, young man" and that would've been the end of it.

What happened to common sense?

Apparently it is worse to say fuck than start fights. I am not joking when I say that at my school you would get detention for having a fight but suspended for swearing. Yeah conservatism makes real sense.

I said fuck in biology today, and my teacher didn't care.  He didn't even tell me to watch my language.

Yeah, but I avoid using it near teachers.  I use it a lot in private conversation, though.  Every 4-5 sentences.

I had a Middle School Teacher who used to say that. No surprise he is under the chopping block now.

Interestingly, my Government teacher was known for his use of non-politically correct and occasionally vulgar lectures, but fukc was the one word he never said.

Also Ben's reminder that he loves saying the f word is a little sad.

Obviously this is overkill but at the same time, I think you should know better by now. Anyway, that word is overused now.

Back when I was in high school and middle school that would have been a 5 demerit offense.  (15 demerits or a more serious offense such as fighting would trigger a suspension.  Except that at the end of each 6 weeks, parents found out how many demerits you had gotten during that 6 weeks, no penalty for getting demerits unless you hit that magical number of 15 during the year.   Lesser offenses were 5, 2, or 1 demerits.  (Tardy to class was 1 or 2 demerits, IIRC.  Smoking tobacco outside the designated smoking area and/or without parental permission was a 5 demerit offense I think.)  I might still have the whole list of offenses and their demerit values somewhere.

I smell BS. Honestly, I don't think they can suspend you for using that word, can they? How long were you suspended? I think ALL high school students use that. Even my teachers would use curse words occasionally.

My American History teacher in high school cursed more than he taught. Also, my senior year, for instance, I would've practically been able to stand up and yell "F***" during a lecture in 4/5 of my classes, with no repercussions. In fact, not even a slap on the wrist.

Are you sure you were suspended for using the F word while falling over? You didn't do anything else? I'd challenge that if this story is true. I doubt any school would have a zero tolerance for using that word and suspend you on the first offense. I know schools have power to restrict speech to an extend, but something that meaningless seems so silly.

Right, because 40 years ago saying 'Fu(k' at school was totally acceptable.

Well you obviously haven't gone to a charter school in Idaho before then.

Conservativism would punish fighting harsher as assault if you're going by that argument.

Don't start bashing conservatives because you got pissed off and got yourself suspended.

On a similar note - I said the f-word during a College Republican meeting that I was chairing (off to the side while somebody else was giving an election speech).

Afterwards, I said it at least 25 times (a few times at the county GOP chair) - I was really angry that day
