the whole "three men in a room" system of government that NYState had for the longest time (Pataki, Bruno, and Sheldon Silver) was inherently 'corrupt' though it may be difficult to pin anything on anybody...

All of our politicians here in NY are corrupt.  Our politics are so tribal (everyone looks out for their own kind and couldn't care less about everyone else) that it's inevitable.

He looks more Roman (medieval or modern, not ancient) than corrupt.

And his name sounds Roman to me, too. Smiley

Meh. Upon checking that name is typical for Rome but for other places as well.

Turin and Milan is probably migration-related.

Yup.  It was no secret that Bruno's retirement was partly due to his pending indictment.

Typically, any Italian surname you see in America is Southern (I know a ton of Brunos).  This is why you don't see many Allighieris, DeMedicis, Sforzas, or Berlusconis in America. Tongue

No, that's because they're not very common names (though Berlusconi is indeed as ultra-Lombard a name as a man).

As to the Sforza's, I suppose you just haven't met any... as the name is neither uncommon nor, er, unsouthern.

Played around to find a highly common, yet highly northern name with political implications. Didn't take long. Cheesy

You should found a photo with pasta falling out of his mouth and a picture of Uncle Benito hanging in the background.

Yeah, I'm not sure how he "looks corrupt..." He does look like he has a botox pipeline hooked up to his house. Isn't he pushing 80?

Migration. Grin

Edit: Perhaps my examples were bad (I just chose fancy-sounding names of notable aristocrats), but I have been told that Italians laugh at how Italian emigrants all have Southern last names.
