Michael Savage has done a lot of things that people considered "too far", such as that one time he told a gay man, "Get AIDS and die, you pig" on his show.  He's basically a male Ann Coulter.

I respect Savage. Posting the video? I can see both sides. I wouldn't do it personally.

I tried listening to him on a car ride a few months ago.....I almost threw up....the man is insane, and not the good insane. If PD had a radioshow this would be it.

what the  else is there to do in Idaho?

But yes this guy does make good points (I read his Book)  But he needs to tone it down and stop making stupid comments, and  that aids comment was awful (did he apologize for that)

Now, now there's no need for that sort of exaggeration... I'm sure that if he was still here PD would be very insulted by that comparison... Wink

I love Michael Savage. I agree with his judgement on the issues, but hardly ever his solutions. I usually listen to him when I get PES (Political Emotion Syndrome, and yes, I just made that up like 5 seconds ago).

I don't think it's going to far to post those videos. You have a choice if you want to watch it or not. If the parents are humiliated becuase it's posted, that's their problem. They are hurt emotionally because they lost a son; we're afraid of liberals running our nation and more events like that happening. Al-Qaeda/US Military made it public domain, so it's public domain. I have every right to watch it if I please- I have every right to see important intelligence. That, after all, could be my friends, family, or myself one day.

I listen to Michael Savage - he's by far the most amusing and entertaining of the right-wing talk show hosts.  I love his little hints at fascism to come - where he says 'I could say something but you're not ready for it.. you'll be ready for it soon, in a few years, but you're not ready for it now', etc.  I'm pretty sure he's hinting at nuking the enemy abroad and rounding them up at home, that sort of thing.  Pretty funny stuff.

Anyway, he's no libertarian, but he does have a pretty fair understanding of Islam.

I do not listen to Michael Savage, he is  just over the top.  But I do believe the beheading videos should be viewed.  It is important that we "know our enemy" and seeing an innocent beheaded reminds us that our enemies are animals.

I think the 911 videos should be shown for the same reason.

OK, I actually like listening to Savage, he brings up some good points every once in awhile, I do not agree with him on everything though.  But something he did really angered me, he posted the beheading of an American on his website.

http://www.michaelsavage.com
btw the website is terrible

Anyway, I understand why he posted it, he wants to show how brutal and how far the terrorists are willing to go.  It just makes me really angry, I didn't watch the video and I don't plan on it.  It sickens me that anyone would show this video, for any sake.  What outrages me the most, is how do you think the family feels?  How do you think they like having their son/brother being watched as he died?  And how would they deal with that humiliation and sadness?  It's just not right.

Savage went too far.

That's what it took for you to say he went to far? My god man! ( Wink )

Al-Qaeda/US Military made it public domain, so it's public domain. I have every right to watch it if I please- I have every right to see important intelligence. That, after all, could be my friends, family, or myself one day.

A) If I made terrible information about you public would you just sit there and say, "oh, well it's public domain now, tra-la-laa." ? Would you want people all over the internet seeing you getting killed? Havn't you heard of dignity? Honor? Compassion?

B) How is this important intel? It isn't, there is no information in there that you need or can use? Are you going to start a militia? Are you going to decipher the speech patterns of those reading the statements to figure out who is behind the masks? No! It's not important for you at all, it just fuels the fire. Not only that, but it is also giving in to the desires of those who did the deed. They want people to see it. They want Americans to see it. There is another thread discussing political use of fear: You can't be affected by fear tactics if you are ignorant to manner the information is being presented. (reference Bowling for Columbine. Note: I'm not a Michael Moore guy.)

It is important that we "know our enemy" and seeing an innocent beheaded reminds us that our enemies are animals.

What knowlege can watching this impart on you that you don't already know?
Oh, and we're all animals, didn't you take physical anthropology? And if what you really meant by that is, "they don't care about the lives they are destroying," then my respose is you ought to take a look at your feelings toward those that American troops are destroying every day. We might not being sawing off peoples heads one by one, but a cloud of bullets and depleted uranium certainly isn't a pleasent thing to be pummeled with.
Plenty of people watch news pertaining to what these men are doing to American civilians, too bad they are equating all "evil arabs" with Iraqis.

Furthermore, I watched the first beheading of this war (I think on Savages website linked from the Drudge Report) and it (without sound) made me only slightly more sick than listening to Savage. In other words, I am nearly equating the vileness of Michael Savage to that of Anti-American terrorists.

Fianl thing: I  think posting these sort of films is useless and quite despicable, but I still believe that people should be allowed.

Seeing the videos serves as a reminder.  Our collective attention span is about 5 seconds and we try to forget painful events.  Unfortunately when we forget the feeling of the  event we lose our will  to work to get real  resolution.

Perhaps animal was not the right word, how bout  Savage, not to be confused with Michael.

When you watch the Berg video do you really think the guy with the knife cares about the life he is about to destroy? I don't!  And don't try to equate our (or any other) military with terrorists.  Our troops do not target the innocent, on the contrary they sometimes put themselves in greater danger to avoid civilian causalities.  We wear uniforms so the enemy will know who to shoot at, terrorists don't.

Finally, I agree that  the video is vile & despicable.  But it is not useless, the terrorists use it as a recruiting tool.  We need to use it as a reminder.

Savages, animals, barbarians, these are all terms warmongers and politicians have used in the past to dehumanize the enemy. Isn't dehumanizing them so it is easier to destroy them is similar to what they do to our citizens?

You're right, our side is no where as brutal. However, it's still brutal to kill civilians and nationalists.

I agree that it can be used to remind us of what happened, but what can I actually do about the problem after watching the video that I couldn't do before?

How?

If Savage doesn't like your politics, he doesn't call for your death but rather for you to be thrown out of the country (which obviously can't be done). Disturbed people will act on these ideas. There will be violence after the November election.

You have got to be kidding me, saying someone who doesn't weild that much power can do that is ludicrous.  Disturbed people act in disturbing manners anyway.  That makes no sense whatsoever.

So you think Savage arguing individuals dont' have a right to be US citizens and should be deported is a legitimate political dialogue?

Do you deny words and ideas play any role in motivating political assassination?
