Yes, along the lines of the Galveston Plan. The returns are better and the government-protected bonds and annuities involved are essentially as secure. The only problem is you might out live our benefits but I'm sure that could be tweaked, and the amounts right now are paltry anyway.

No. Social Security is solvent for another few decades with absolutely zero changes. Increasing the retirement age would solve the problem; no need for something this drastic.

Neutral, it shouldn't be privatized, it should be abolished. A private retirement insurance compary shouldn't rest upon coercion for customers. Instead, they should simply allow young people to opt out of the system as the older generation dies off.

Yes. As Mint pointed out seniors get very little from social security. It would be nice to have more for them without taking more money out of government.

Lean No. Privatization would mess too much with solvency... obviously, we're not exactly flush right now. Maybe a bit down the road.

Yes, that's pretty much how I see it.

Doesn't really fit your populist economics....but alright.

BTW, welcome back. Good to see that you came back in person after your second account got banned.

It would certainly be an improvement, but it needs to be eventually abolished.
