Hilarious.  Next think you know an ex-President is going to get put in the hospital by his poodle.

I wonder why/how/if France operates at all sometimes.

In most countries suffering from civil disturbance, the population demands action that the self-serving incompetent government fails to provide (obvious example: Zimbabwe).

But not France.

There the people riot when the government demands too much action. I have never seen the spectacle of people starting fires and barrackading offices to keep their situation just the way they are.

I wonder why/how/if France operates at all sometimes.

Suprisingly it does, with its universal healthcare coverage, generous maternity leave, public works and shorter working week Smiley It is still a powerhouse and one that has now overtaken the UK economy.

I absolutely loathe France, but love to make fun of it. This is hilarious.

Ah, France and it's 35 hour workweek. You should hear the whining from the out of touch California state employees about having to work only 36 hours a week.

The funny part is that, despite (cynics may replace with "partially because of" if they feel like it, though I think that might be putting the cart before the horse) their bluster, Unions are actually quite weak in France. Membership is concentrated in the public sector even more than in other places and overall rates of unionisation are even lower than the U.S (or at least they were a year ago).

See? too many nice things, their children are spoiled, throwing up the barricades at the slightest wind of difficulty.

Myself? I work in a political office at least 30 hours a week, plus I'm a full time student (8am class every day) at a top tier university. I'm not whining.

In France, at least people are willing to challenge the government... unlike in my own Britain.

Hey, sure people don't wanna change here!

They have a confortable social system, adapted to our egalitarist centralized culture.

Well, times after times governments try to make it lower, it makes people unhappy, that's normal.

What I would just reproach to them it's that they want "le beurre et l'argent du beurre" (expression we use here, literal translation: "the butter and the money of the butter"). They want all advantages of globalization and not backdraws. Hey, they try to have the more they can, that's human!

Then, OK, we use to be very satisfy to what we are (are we alone on the planet like that??), to not wanting to go further, but hmm, on the other hand, it seems we express an other view in west than the anglo-saxon culture, even if thats lower and lower, I tend to like to be in that "different west". Well, some could think it's part of the French backdraws, to be happy of me, well I assume this here.

Mouhahaha, there's one expression in France which sums it up: "The French is like his national emblem, the cock, that's the only bird which sing the 2 feet in its sh**t"...

As you can see French are also able of laughing on them...
