You know who I thought was just a right wing blowhard like Coburn?  Cinyc.

But recently he has made some very substantive posts...

Even though I disagree with Cinyc, my respect for him has gone up a ton because he has begun to get a feel for good debate.

He does that sometimes. He had interesting posts about the Canadian elections. But then he goes back into blowhard mode (gay judges can't be impartial, blah blah blah).

Does anyone else have a nagging suspicion that cinyc and MikeyCNY are the same person? I mean they're stylistically similar, both forecast gloom and doom for Democrats, and cinyc appeared around the same time MikeyCNY disappeared. Also, they both have c and "NY" in their names, suggesting that they're someone whose name begins with C who lives in New York.

Well said. Tom is a bit extreme on some social issues, but he is excellent at taking no prisoners within his own party or not, about the emperor having no clothes on a lot of fiscal issues, and in that role, he fills a largely empty niche. And he is no dumbo. That is why I like him. Sometimes it "pays" to look for the good in people, and de-emphasize the negative, and Tom is one of those folks for whom it pays in my opinion.
