Eh, I'm still putting this seat as a low-grade safe Democrat.  It is Connecticut, after all.

It'd be a pretty upper tier upset for them to score Connecticut.  Perhaps the equivalent of the Democrats knocking of Vitter, but I'm not sure if that'd be accurate.

I mean, this is one of the cases where Schiff has to prove he's an awesome candidate and the default, until he does, is that Dodd will be reelected by upper single digits.

We'll have to see though, I'm willing to leave a question mark over this.

Maybe Chambliss is a better comparison?

Dodd isn't very popular at the moment and to be honest I kind of hope he retires because no one will primary him.

Maybe Chambliss is a better comparison?

I mean, I suppose the comparison is most relevant to Vitter if he gets a challenger like businessman Jim Bernhardt, the only person I've seen who openly is giving signals of entering the race.  But yeah, different places.  Seems pretty dumb for the Democrats not to run a Cajun but that's a different story

Any Democrat with an ounce of patriotism and a sense of ethics should be calling for Dodd's head.  The man ought to be prosecuted and put in jail.

Why not? He's been there since 1981. He deserves to spend his retirement fishing in the Long Island Sound with his grandkids.

There's plenty of Senators who have been there longer who have no indication of retiring.  Dodd clearly craves power -- otherwise he wouldn't have run a longshot bid for the presidency and had Obama float his name as a potential VP.

Perfect contest. The man who predicted the recession vs. the man partially responsible for the recession. Hopefully justice will win the end.

He's still fairly young, though, by Senate standards.  He's only 65 years old, with 28 years in the Senate; he Chairs the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, and is next in line to Chair the HELP Committee when Ted Kennedy ends his time in the Senate.  I don't see Dodd leaving until 2023, at least.

Anyway, as our current year has shown us, with KBH soon to run for governor, with what, seven GOP senators leaving office already, senators leave office when they lose power NiK, not because they want to spend more time with their grandchildren.

And yeah, 65 is young by Senate standards

The average age in the Senate is 62.  Dodd is 10th in seniority, but 46th in age.  He is younger than every Senator ahead of him, and many Senators who are well behind him.  All signs point to Dodd being in the Senate for a long time.

Could you imagine what would have happened if Obama chose Dodd to be VP? And then the countrywide scandal came out? Sad

I like the site too. I respect Schiff, but don't particularly like him; he seems to take too much glee in telling us we're all screwed. Regardless, if he gets past the primary, he'll lose, but I'll support him.

To the best of my knowledge, Peter Schiff hasn't agreed to run for anything.  It's a recruitment website.
