This is really a disaster for Obama.  Has any president ever displayed such incompetence in putting together a cabinet?  He clearly did not do his homework on Daschle, Geithner, Richardson, Gregg and a few others.  He announces strict anti-lobbyist rules then comes out with exemptions the next day.

This does not bode well for his ability to handle to office of President.  Our country is in a world of trouble.

Yes, Clinton 1993.  This has possibly sunk to that level, but Clinton recovered by 1996.

It is amusing to watch the hacks in action, like Iosif and Lief.

I'm more interested in Gregg, for now. I mean, who'd trust this guy over (or with) anything? I wonder how the woman lined up to replace him is feeling right now.

It is possible that he alerted her well beforehand. She was his campaign manager in the past. But really this just reflects very poorly on Gregg. He actively campaigned for the position, met with Obama and agreed to what Obama had to say, and then pulled out.

There must be something else going on. Gregg has some skeleton in his closet. There's no other way this could have happened.

Excellent news that this garbage won't be part of the Obama administration.

Honestly, I find the whole Commerce Secretary situation hysterical.  Historically, it has not been an important position and clearly it's not a priority for this administration either.  The next nominee will be sloppy thirds, actually sloppy fourths if you count Penny Pritzker.  At this point, the job looks like so much of a joke maybe they should appoint Roland Burris, lol.  It would solve the problem of what to do with him in 2010.

I hear Pay-Rod is looking for work.

Can anyone name the last Commerce Secretary who was a major player in the executive  branch?

She was always going to retire. I feel worse for Bill Richardson's lt. Governor who really needed that experience to be ensured the nomination in 2010.  Now she might lose to fucking Val Kilmer.

LOL, J. J. was actually owned by jamespol. Just think about that.

At least jamespol's statments in this thread are coherant, unlike the first sentence in  J. J.'s last post there, which makes no grammatical sense whatsoever.

If I could have voted in 2004, I would have voted for Bush, no doubt.

Boss Tweed:

Gregg probably didn't pay his taxes, so he withdrew before he could be found out.
